Robbo- Are you planning on doing everything in your power to drop the hammer on Laurent? I am just curious, because I feel that most Pro teams get away with way to much **** and deserve to get their peepee's spanked. I am just glad to see you so pissed about this, because I believe that you have the connections, knowledge, and respect to make a difference.:)

What makes me have a little more faith in humanity is that there is a pro player on this board who actually thinks these sort of things are wrong. It would be the easy way out to just sit and twiddle his thumbs, whilst 'understanding' the motives of these guys.
More power to ya Robbo! Otherwise we'd end up thinking every pro player is a git!

CJ, I have no power over any of the Millennium Board other than what is in my pen (or rather keyboard).
I have spoken now to two of the board and it is obvious they are at the very least embarrassed by what Laurent and Jean Manuel have done.
I, for one, feel really sorry for Jean-Manuel because he came under God know's what sort of pressure and when I saw him on the Sunday as he tried to explain away his decision to reverse his previous day's resolve, he was obviously suffering.
And I ain't bull****ting or exaggearting, this guy (Jean) was right under the cosh and was paying the price for it, it weren't nice to see and I have always got on well with Jean and like him a lot.
The question has to be put, who made him like that?
Well, no need for Sherlock Holmes on that one !
I can only see one way out of this and it is not going to be the other board members forcing Laurent's hand, politically this would be difficult.
It has to come from Laurent himself, he has to realise that he f##ked up and not come out with a new rule of non-participation of the Board in future rulings, this should have been already done anyway, he should have enough pride and humility and common sense to relieve his team of all the points it acquired in Germany, NO ARGUMENT !!!!!!
Only that way, can everybody see, justice was done unequivocally and above board (pun intended).

Robbo,

sure I got the point, there was a guy talking about the %10 tolerance, trying to give sympaty to the hot gun penalty and so on...

I agree this is not the point, if you look at my previous msg, you would see that I define this as politics.

when we say '' safety first'' we shall mean it.

we had two or three hot gun penalty during the past tourneys, slicing our 50 points and getting pissed off, but by time passes you understand that it is necessary.

I totally agree with you on ''not changing the rules'' in the middle of the tourney for some certain team or person...

this is much bigger than any other kind of cheating,

this is filth, this is sin....

Fair enough. Sounds good to me. I guess I assumed that you had some "pull" in the millenium board. I guess the most important thing is that hopefully Laurent knows he has pissed off a plethera of paintballers and needs to come clean and own up to what he did. It would be nice for him to post a public apology on p8ntballer.

I feel the need to qualify all this, well to be more precise, my input to this thread.
Now it might not seem like it but I want to make certain things clear, I have the greatest respect and like, both Jean Manuel and Laurent.
They f##ked up in my opinion that's all, it happens to everybody at some time or another. I don't want my writings to appear as a witch-hunt, it is not, it is to try and make damn sure it never happens again and we (pros and people in power) are seen to pay the same price as anybody else committing similar type indiscretions.
If I do not try to ensure this consistency then as Buddha succinctly puts it, he and others, could have no faith in the system whatsoever.
If I go out and win something, I don't want anybody out there saying it's because this guy on the board or that judge did me a favour of some kind because of who I am.
The pros and people in power have for a long time come under attack for this type behaviour and in some cases it was justified.
So what might seem an unselfish attack by myself to try and get justice, there is also a selfish element to it in that I want everybody to know and see, that nobody gets away with **** because of who they are.
Idealistic, I know, but that's my goal in this.
Laurent has done more than anybody in Paintball to push this sport forward, of that there is no doubt and I have said this on numerous occasions in my articles over the years and all of us owe him a great debt for bringing the game out of the woods and onto the Sup’ Air ball fields and into stadiums.
He just had too many hats on at this tournament and didn't know which one to wear and ended up putting on too many.
I'm done !

Laurent has done a huge amount for Paintball. He is one person I have truely sat down with and thought this guy cared about the bigger picture and the sport, not the money, that's why I am rather shocked by this.

I would like to hear more about this actual incident and maybe hear his side of it from him, not second or third hand or through the rumour board.

Does the incident depend on which rules were being used for the event?

I do believe the way some events are out of order or count for different years in the Millenium series to be rather a joke. This may have helped lead to such an incident and should also be looked at.

How can we have a series, in order, running to different years rules, or no-one certain which rules we are running to?

If it is true I believe Laurent has the ability to be accountable. I also can't think of anyone I would prefer to have in his position. He has done a huge amount for this sport and I am very grateful for that.

"We all make mistakes... Said the Darlik climbing off the dustbin..."

If he does have a viable explanation I believe we should forgive him and move on. I don't believe the press should always slaughter someone if they can admit they made a mistake and are accountable. It's one of the bad things about the press in our country and I think we don't need to stoop to that level within our sport. (not saying you will Robbo, just please make sure you have all the facts and that you also think about the sport in this issue).

I do firmly believe he or anyone else affiliated to a team should not have the ability to change or affect the rules. But then many of the promoters are part of teams and have this ability at the moment. Hats off to Niall for trying to get a seperate body started.

Just to add to this......

A couple of points:

Firstly, did anyone see the photocopied instructions for the marshals that specified that onfield chronographing had a limit of 310fps b4 a players was eliminated - this appeared on the Sunday and was not inforce on the Saturday.

And secondly I am still very much surprised that, when chronographing, we allow a clearing shot - it has never made any sense to me as I have never fired a clearing shot in the game everytime I go to shoot at somoeone.

Well I now had to went that one....

First I was at the Captains meeting as we participated there. I try to quote:

1. On field chronoing is only before and during the game.

2. No Orange jerseys & stuff (enforced in Am.Nov. not in pro)

3. No half coloured loaders or orange stickers. (enforced in Am.Nov. not in pro)

4. Barrel bags after and before game (enforced in Am.Nov. not in pro) HUGE penalty opportunity.

5. Mind the Grass ( If anyone seen one certain teams games knows what Im talking about)

Now Robbo you've been there and all the peeps who were present seen that the "Everyone is Equal" rule is left outside.
After everyone slapped on their team jerseys there were a clear distiniction.
Is there a rule what allows some Pro taems to leave the players area and camp behind the WDP tent? Isn't that a safety issue?

The Avalanche vs. Russian Legion issue:
Someone wrote: "P.S. Got to say i wasn't impressed with LaSoya's play at the end of the Legion game in the finals - did anyone else see it? I will check if I have it on tape as I filmed the game"

Now that was a real bitchslap on the face of the rules and the face of Sergey from their american "friends".

Shortly summing it up:

There were 3 lanche players against 2 Russians
Lasoya was at the middle in the Diablo arch, he got goggled and played on eliminating the two remaining Legion guys.
Now thats a CLEAR "Aggressively Playing On" situation according to the milleneum rules. This means 142 thus automatically awarding the game to Russian Legion.
Guess what happened, LaSoya casually walked off from the field
not giving ANY attention to the controversy he created.
Now if you're familiar with RussianLegion you WILL know that those guys HARDLY ever complain at the head ref. Now they've done it, interestingly without any result.

The worst is not that LaSoya were intentionally screwing his russian friends.

The worst is that he had done it running towards the spectators there were roughly 30+ ppl watching that and clearly saw what happened!
There were huge booing AND HE GOT AWAY WITH THAT.
Thats low really low.

Now I think it would be time to place ref's on the elevated spectator area since there are things/moves what you can see only from there.

On the other hand he wasn't the only one doing that there were a certain French Am team who got away with a mugging when the mugger was clearly marked 4 in the back 3 in the chest.

And I think there is more bring em on guys.....
