marker warranties =worthless

SP put a bottle on mine and let me test it before i paid for mine. out of the box the input pressure was set to 160psi.

They told me that all markers now sold by them as gassed up and tested before delivery. So now you shouldnt have any problems but it does say in the manual to turn em down and then fit the air system just to be safe.

All I have had to do with mine is set the trigger up and it rips.

Yup coming from me....it wasnt new any way. It was nearly new second hand and it had been setup under advisement of a head WDP tech. Who when i raised the issue with him apologised for the mistake. Apologies don't cost anything, just the swallowing of one's pride and admitting a mistake. It was a shared mistake both by the icorrect recomendation of settings and myself by not testing the marker fully. **** happens, water under the bridge.....

By the way, what the heck does that matter have to do with customer service....aside from deflecting attention from ones own sponsors?

Ion is mainly made from Composit material (plastic if you will, which is cheaper to make as moulding is alot cheaper than Milling)
Sorry Scars, love you mate, but that's COMPLETELY factually incorrrect as is most stuff one reads about the Ion from (not Scars) non-owners, SP haters or rumour-merchants

Pinki's right, cap damage from screws is rife, and I'd have bet the same tenner as him. How about he pays me it, I give him a fiver and we split the proceeds on beer vouchers?

love you too sweetheart ;)

but was refering to the body being made of plastic - i know the internals are alluminium but its alot more expensive to mill a block of aluminium than the mould a composite body.

Not a SP Hater at all, massive impulse fan to be frank - which is ironic since i used AKA markers fo so long.

As somebody who works in the pneumatics and lubrication engineering industry I get involved with lots of warranty claims, of which the vast majority are down to user error. Now I am not for one second saying that this problem with the ION is not a valid warranty claim. But knowing the marker inside out and knowing what Smart Parts are like I would edge a bet on user error.
As for the marker being a $30 piece of imported worthless crap is just ridiculous, get down to Fat Bobs walk-on and see how many IONS are in use and performing faultlessly along side EGOS, ANGELS, COCKERS, IMPULSES, MATRIXS', TIMMIES and a whole number of other markers three times the price.
It's all down to the Smart Parts haters yet again with no valid reason to hate them except for the ION which has turned marker sales upside down, and made a more level playing field for new starters to the sport. WELL DONE SMART PARTS!!!!
