Make a stink and they'll sort it out for you. Shouldn't be necessary I agree, but thats the way they seem to operate.

Unfortunately the less you spend the less likely you are to get great aftersales service. Thats why I was laughing at Adams interview in Facefull, where he was saying that people buying Ions would progress to buy another SP gun out of brand loyalty. While this is a good theory, if people have a bad experience with a $300 marker why would they go and buy an $800 - $1000 marker from the same company?

Smart Parts......................
Bad Customer Service..................

Who would have thought that they might go together in the same sentence!

As a consumer you have a whole host of rights available to you. If you are ever in doubt a quick and FREE way to resolve any issues is to pop in to your local Citizens Advice centre and have a chat. They will be more than capable of advising you of your rights.

If an electrical product is faulty from purchase you are entitled to a full refund in the method that you paid.

I'm sorry but Smart parts always been shoddy in the customer service department. Remember the fun that was had by all during the shoody revvy episode a few years ago. The hopper was defective due to low drade, fragile plastic being used. The manufacturers knew this all the retailers new this and when the hoppers feed necks started cracking and customers complaining, every retailer offered replacement parts for free. Well all except smartparts, who blamed the customer for damaging the hopper and tried to charge for replacement shells (made of the same low grade plastic I might add).
Just goes to show that SP are still going by the "give us your money, now get the f*** out of our sight until you have more money" attitude.

Hmm - now where have I heard that before ;)?

Anyway - the warranty will still be valid after a QEV mod - providing you haven't cut the body in any way (you need to with some QEV's).

Things like a feedneck/grips/barrel etc. are not 'mods' but add-ons. Therefore, they do not invalidate your warranty (the car wheels analogy before was a good one).

So - if the marker hasn't been modified - then they are talking b0ll0cks. Statutory rights state that you may return it for a full refund if it doesn't do what it is supposed or advertised to do (not the exact wording - but a close interpretation).

I'd kick up a fuss and maybe threaten small claims court - hopefully they will just sort it rather than risk the bad publicity (or more of it).

NOTE - I am not anti-SP - my son owns an ION - I own a freak kit - this is just my PERSONAL advice.

Not knowing the ION that well (other than the usual cost etc) but aren't markers nowadays are made so that you can adjust the trigger.

How would that void a warranty or are you talking about changing it with an after market trigger???

He must do Mike - as the ION does indeed have external trigger adjustment. To change the trigger - you have to disassemble the marker - so that would void the warranty.

If you've changed the grips on an Ion (esp. to Hybrid ones) and you don't take care, then when you screw the grips back on, the screws can hit the board/soleniod and cause all kinds of damage.

This is because the hybrid grips are thinner than the stock ones, and this sort of damage would not be covered under a warrenty because it was due to aftermarket parts.

Oh, and you can adjust your trigger without voiding your warrenty, but if you start dremmeling/otherwise modding it then you're on your own (and that's straight from SP)

Pinki - I presume that is 'adjust' as opposed to 'replace' then?

As I understand it - if you 'replace' the trigger then it's warranty over.
