Just got back home from the site.
It's definately not up to Millennium standards. 7 man teams will be playing on the CPL field tomorrow morning, sorry if any of the pros wanted to do field walking then. Marshalls will have 148 games to ref each day, sorry for them too.
The captains meeting was started by Pedro who tried to dodge a few questions about the quality of the event and gave the lead to Ulrich for rules talk. Some people were able to steer the discussion back to the quality of the event. Pedro had some nice points, that I'm going to reproduce here:
1.- We have worked too hard to have this event running
2.- Paris will be better
3.- You can leave if you want since there are local teams on the waiting list, ready to get a spot
4.- Let the other teams enjoy the tournament, are you only trying to make trouble?
5.- Who is paying you to bitch here?
Plus some denial of the obvious, like saying that the fields are perfect to play (expect many injuries on the Dye field). Points 1 to 3 where used randomly as answer to whatever question thrown at him while 4 and 5 where just insults given to some people he particularly dislikes.
After a while of hearing that 1st, 2nd and 3rd points again and again and of making it clear that we could get a refund if we chose not to play (ups, point 2) but that no other kind of compensation would be made (everyone of us gets free taxis, rental cars, hotels and holidays, dontcha?), we finally got Laurent and Baldwin who finally gave us what we were expecting:
- an apology
- a promise to never let this happen again including not coming back to Madrid (not that I'm personally very happy on this second part
)
- the promise to look into it and get us back some refund for not being up to the standards
Even when this gives us no choice but to blindly give our confidence to the MS (again), we just expect this time we will not be butt raped. I hope they are able to live to our expectations this time.
I want to thank all the captains that stood up for everyone of us, I don't know all your names but that's likely to change soon and specially to Magued since he was able to get the points straight when we were getting lost in Pedro's bullsh1t storm.
