Sitting back in the relative comfort of my dining room receiving numerous phone calls from industry people attending this event, I'm torn between trying to maintain some semblance of good relations with the Millennium guys and my almost obsessive desire to blurt all :)

I'm gonna do both - the Madrid event is shaping up to be a disaster.
The guys who I have spoken to are responsible people from the industry who are attending this event, they have paid fackin good money to be there and deserve, like the players and teams, a good standard of facilities.

I'm afraid this is not apparent in any way, shape or form.
What makes this event seem worse is the success of the Marseilles and Bittburgh events and whilst the Millennium Board rattle on about a 'collective' being responsible for each and every event, I am afraid this event has once again focused attention on its Iberian promoter who was the front man for the Millennium during the organization for this event.

If the Board wish to maintain any semblance of integrity or professionalism, I'm afraid there is but one course of action and when done, it will leave the way clear for a more cohesive board, a better managed board and a board more likely to be receptive to offers that are undoubtedly soon to be coming.

This is a critical time for the Board and they MUST make the right decisions or they will leave themselves open for the ensuing onslaught and also weaken their own position in a few months time when they need to be strong.
They know what I am talking about here and we shall see if they step up to the plate to do the best thing for the Board and for European paintball.

Pete, I think you are giving them the easy way out. The series should be organised collectively as claimed. That means equal effort should be put into each event. Are all the people involved putting equal effort into the Spanish event as they are in the French, Uk and German one? The obvious answer is no, and so 'collective' responsibility has to be taken. If the event is changed, and a little hairy head rolls, then how does this make a difference? The event is replaced, but unless the substituted event is affiliated with one of the existing promotors, and is back in one of their own 'yards' where a duff event reflects directly on their own abilities/ego's, then it will still be the event that falls between the cracks.
Not that I disagree with the course of action you are pushing, for many reasons, but I don't think it goes even half way to solving the problem, it just removes one furry little aspect of it.

One step at a time my fat friend..........after all, if you got gangrene, you lop off the afflicted limb and then begin to treat the condition ........ think of all this as a 'work in progress' :)

I'll have you know I lost 12 lbs this year. I am still 304lb's, but I finally lost that bit I put on over christmas.
My target weight is 295lbs, I have to fight guys off when I duck under 300, thats when I fit into my favorite leopard bikini, made famous in Jerry Springer, summer of '95.
Those were the days!

That reminds me, I think you still have the panties to that ensemble, can you mail them back to me please? Hopefully I will have trimmed that last 9lbs off by the time they get here, so I will be ready to rock the pool at the Harlem community center. You can keep the pictures though.

Just got back home from the site.

It's definately not up to Millennium standards. 7 man teams will be playing on the CPL field tomorrow morning, sorry if any of the pros wanted to do field walking then. Marshalls will have 148 games to ref each day, sorry for them too.

The captains meeting was started by Pedro who tried to dodge a few questions about the quality of the event and gave the lead to Ulrich for rules talk. Some people were able to steer the discussion back to the quality of the event. Pedro had some nice points, that I'm going to reproduce here:

1.- We have worked too hard to have this event running

2.- Paris will be better

3.- You can leave if you want since there are local teams on the waiting list, ready to get a spot

4.- Let the other teams enjoy the tournament, are you only trying to make trouble?

5.- Who is paying you to bitch here?

Plus some denial of the obvious, like saying that the fields are perfect to play (expect many injuries on the Dye field). Points 1 to 3 where used randomly as answer to whatever question thrown at him while 4 and 5 where just insults given to some people he particularly dislikes.

After a while of hearing that 1st, 2nd and 3rd points again and again and of making it clear that we could get a refund if we chose not to play (ups, point 2) but that no other kind of compensation would be made (everyone of us gets free taxis, rental cars, hotels and holidays, dontcha?), we finally got Laurent and Baldwin who finally gave us what we were expecting:

- an apology

- a promise to never let this happen again including not coming back to Madrid (not that I'm personally very happy on this second part ;))

- the promise to look into it and get us back some refund for not being up to the standards

Even when this gives us no choice but to blindly give our confidence to the MS (again), we just expect this time we will not be butt raped. I hope they are able to live to our expectations this time.

I want to thank all the captains that stood up for everyone of us, I don't know all your names but that's likely to change soon and specially to Magued since he was able to get the points straight when we were getting lost in Pedro's bullsh1t storm.
