Borders can be a bit hit and miss, I was struggling to get a copy when I was waiting for my subscription to go through, (damn being between copies).

Funnily enough WH Smiths in the Truffle Center has started having the odd copy in, or at least it has the last few times I've looked.

Oh and Planet generally have them n the shelf, but then they would :D

Tying in with PGI - to get a hold of a copy in England, you have to either have a subscription or order it specially from you're newsagents/bookstore. I've never seen a copy on the shelf. I go to the states however, and they have 6 copies in the periodical section of most bookstores and even the occasional newsagent I go to.
Got my last 3 issues from WH Smiths! Maybe it's only in the larger ones, but they're definately stocking it.

I agree with the comments made about rec ball walk ons being unpopular amongst site owners in the UK. I'm just a recballer - tourneys are way above my skill/commitment level, but I did like the idea of having my own marker so I could have something to tinker ( :) ) with/get used to and use. I'll probably get grimaces from tourney guys, but I see it as more of a hobby. I get to spend the odd weekend doing something I enjoy and meeting a great group of guys.

After posting here, and asking around it seems that in the Midlands my options are the NPF, the NPF and did I mention the NPF? OK, to be fair, I was told by Rebel in Leicester that own guns were OK and Congelton have walkons (OTE is a bit too far north for me :( ). But how about the other sites? Jungle, Skirmish Nottingham, the NPG sites.

They all seem to do a side line in selling markers to newbies & regulars alike - but can you actually use the marker on the site? NO. I even pointed this out at Skirmish Notts on the phone, but was told that they "guarantee players won't be playing against superior fire power" - OK, fair enough, you don't want to ruin a newbies day and put him off, you want to attract others to the sport. But when asked when their walkon days were, they don't do them. So - they'll take your £200 plus for a marker, but then won't let you use it. WEIRD !

Keep Joe

Funny as **** BUT you could include a 'New Blood' section. A bit like what Chris form SAD is harping on about. Showcase new up and coming teams or even players that are rippin it up or look set for big things. This could work across all divisions from Nov to Pro. It'd be cool to keep track of which teams are set to rule each season.

Well, as a Rec-Baller, the only thing sillier than the Joe Schmoe articles in PGI is reading the silly SH!T that Turtle Licker posted here about his take on the state of Rec-Ball.

I understand he's a Brit, but that was still some silly SH!T.

Hey, he didn't know. Look at how damn screwed up England is as far as their rec. scene. Hell, read what Jules posted! KC, we don't have to deal with anything like that here, it's the most absurd thing I've ever heard, but over there it's the norm. Until a few months back I had no idea exactly how it was there. I'd heard the Brits going on and on about the state of their rec. scene, but I didn't think it was as bad as they all made out. I just figured it wasn't as big for a simple lack of interest, but I've recently found how the fields seem to almost counter growth with their silly, 'walk-on days'. It's all alien to me, and quite illogical, but that's what they've got, and that's what they've had for all this time. TL spoke in ignorance, but now that he knows, he understands. How did you learn about the British grassroots? Are you omniscient? I'm guessing you're somehow better than TL since you came in to kick him after he already changed his tune.

Or a South African , who lives in England ? :D
Maybe it's starting to seep into the minds of UK tourny players that unless theres a pool of -rec-players to draw from , the sport will continue to suffer in comparison to the US level.

get rid of Joe Schmoe... do we really need these weekend warriors in the mag if we are trying to get the sport away from its war like image? the last one I read had the guy who was using what looked to be an Mwhateverthearmyuses type gun with magazine feed... cmon... please, do a Joe Schmoe but make it either novice/am tourney players or rec-ballers that arent failed TA applicants....
