Yea i see your point, but it is a shame that big business and money takes priority over players opinions.
It's life, get used to it.

So do you think that in the longer run that there will be one main world wide league in which 7-man will be played and shown on TV. Or is there still the need not to have a monopoliy power heading the paintball scene and so to have oligopolistic leagues all competing for players and TV exposure?
There will be one major league, it being the NPPL combine (PSP and NXL) and it will adopt a unified format and at the outset it will more than likely be a 7 man format that will be tweaked as we go along.

If other people want to compete with this league then there is no reason why they can't, all they have to do is set up shop and start trying to get teams in and TV deals done and so in this sense , there never can be a monopoly.

Where as you would see the format that won the players playing Xball, and the league that won the TV playing 7-man. But even then which league would prove to be more successful? This surely brings us back to the NPPL and NXL of old... with NPPL having most of the coverage, and NXL having lots of the big name teams.
I'm sorry mate but I got no idea what that first sentence means...and thus I am not really able to answer the rest.

This again leaves us with the two main US leagues, and then the European millennium. If we go about the TV route, yes it will make Paintball have a bigger profile, but I for one can see it ending at more or less the same point it is at the moment. One league having TV coverage playing 7-man, one having loads of teams playing Xball, and a European league as we felt left out...
We will in my opinion have only one US league, the NPPL combine because I do not believe Billy and Adam Gardner's enterprise will be successful because of who they are joined up with and thus rendering this point academic.
The European Millennium will have to become part of that NPPL combine if it is to survive with the same promoters and now Pedro has been taken out of the loop, it will make that process less difficult.
It will still be a rocky road, of that I am sure.
I think you may be missing the point in that the NXL / PSP as was, will be integrating with the NPPL and XBall for the time being dying with it.
The Smart Parts league will be using something similar to XBall but for how long that lasts is anybodys guess and only has a handful of teams playing in it anyway.

Robbo, i do see your thinking, so in the major leagues pure Xball as it is played at the moment will most likely not be seen, however a slight evolution of 7man into Xball may be seen.

Thus our only chances of xball are small events :(

Logistics of Xball suck. Having scoreboards is prone to plenty of problems...as we can see in Chicago where one divisional scoreboard is out and the clock is announced every 30 seconds over a microphone or even on the NXL field where one of the teams points don't show up, which caused Ceranski to announce as they just beat XSV 9 to 8 in overtime, "I thought the scoreboard read 8 to 6 going into that game".

All the logistics aside, it's terrible thought that Xball could fade away in place of 7man. Clearly some people prefer 7man. Clearly some people prefer Xball. 7man teams generally prefer 7man, based on my anecdotal evidence because they aren't very good at Xball. Even teams like the Wackers who have played a few Xball events said they love (even prefer) the format. It's just way too costly to do both 7man and Xball for all these pro teams. Conversely the Xball teams I've talked to love Xball because it's exciting and they get to "run and gun" a lot. The flip side could be these teams have no patience and suck at 7man as a result, but Xball to me represents one of the great things about paintball: pure aggression. It gets rid of all the sitting and waiting that happens in the first 3 minutes of 7man and jumps straight to the exciting conclusion we all wait for anyway. Maybe it loses a little nuance that 7man has in the build up, but it's so much more exciting.

I don't really think dye, etc. will offer up Xball on the alters of reunification...I think they are just using the possibility as an opportunity to put the heat on Smart Parts. And let's not judge the SPL league before it shows either. It may be the best paintball we've ever seen on TV, or it could go down in a blaze of glory as a poorly produced mess. But since the games were so tightly matched in the finals I think it will be great to watch.

Dissent, who are you?
Someone's alter ego maybes?
It's always nice to know who I'm gonna answer and certainly more polite, if awkward (for whatever reason) on your part.....
I mean, if you think Dave's playing games as an exercise in leverage, you are gonna be in for a surprise mate...
This recent initiative does have its roots in dissatisfaction with the SP position but I'm afraid, in my opinion, so much cr@p has now happened, there is little to no chance of any pressure wanting to be applied by Dave so as to maneuver SP into a position of concillaition...all the time Jerry is stacked up one one side of this, it's gonna be a 'no go' zone and the sooner you realise this the sooner you are gonna maybe understand the true dynamics of just what's going down here.
Now this integration may or not happen, I don't know for sure, nobody does, my guess is it will but it has a damned sight more change of happening than any comeback trail to the SP deal, I know that much.
If that was to happen, then Jerry has to be jettisoned faster than a dollar bill disappearing into his wallet, and man, that's fast, goddam fast.
And me and you both know that ain't gonna happen...don't we Mr Dissent? :)
