By popular request, the three threads related to inter university events , including the Warwick thread and the two Inter-Uni threads (with and without smilies:rolleyes: ) have been joined, merged, and smashed together. Now you can get all your information in one convenient thread, instead of spreading the stuff all over the AC&Q, like your laundry in your room.

Cool :)

No problem running a five man at all. As for facilities, it's the 6E site in Durham, same place the first PA cup and storming the castle was played. So it's a real camp site, castle, bar, restaurant, showers etc... etc...
So, Steve, how about running a trial first? You sort out the teams..... make it newbies only? They can use site markers on the supair fields. We'll do it as a walk on rate event, rather than a tourney'entry fee', I'll get my lot to marshall it free of charge.
So, basically, a walk on 'practice rate' day. Structured and marshalled as a tourney.... build up to a big one?

So, aiming for a big event after easter. So how about we have a smaller one early next year? £10 a head entry, airball, paint BYO or walk on rates (£30-£40 2000 depending on grade). In fact, if you want we can even do limited paint. Up to you. It'll let you bring more groups down.

Teesside uni will be there 5 would be better for them due to kit issues, unless you can hire the ions out you were planning to do.

seven is do-able.

Ian would you mind two teams, from one uni?

I'll PM you my mobile, I started the Brum club up a few years back and would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Only pb related stuff we get at uni Is DF advertising.
I must admit i'm sceptical of the extent of the rumours about DF on the web. But i definately don't like their sales techniques.

Their antipodean sales team turned up in the Birmingham University Guild of Students, in one of our bars a few weeks back. They were going up to Guild members with the usual presure selling, glossing over the potential for additional costs on top of the ticket prices. They thought they had hit the jackpot when they saw that there was 40 odd members of the paintball club having a social there. However it was pointed out to them that they were tresspassing in a private memers club, and they were ejected.

So when are people free for this 'taster' event? Im thinking maybe just after exams in January? Some de-stressing!!!

And have we decided on 7 or 5 man? Which is the most common event these days, cos Id be keen for that...

Cheers,
Mark

We'll accept any number of teams per Uni, but best if the UNis get together and decide these things really. Or how about two competitions? One for 'own gunners' one for the newbies with hired kit.
Also doable :)

I think it might be difficult to have an event after easter because once the summer term is underway a lot of uni's go into revision leave in the build up to the exams.

Regarding a preliminary walk-on type inter-uni day. That could be a good idea.

I've done a lot of searching on the web as well as phoning some student unions, and have managed to contact the chairmen/presidents of 8 active, recognised paintball clubs. (Aberdeen, Birmingham, Coventry, Imperial, Portsmouth, Southampton, Warwick & UWE) As well as tracking down 2 clubs that are starting-up/re-starting (Keele & York), and a number of people interested in starting clubs at their uni's. I'm also waiting for one of the officers in my SU to get back to me (sometime before the end of this week hopefully) regarding sending an email to all the UK student unions on an NUS mailing list, to check if there are any other clubs that i have missed. Once this is done, and they have had a chance to respond i will phone round the clubs finding out what they are interested in and which dates are suitable.

I'm guessing that this wouldn't an issue from the point of view of a site hosting an inter-uni tournament, it would be of more relevance from the uni's point of view. In other words, it is something that perhaps the uni's should consider. We might also want to think about other questions, such as combined teams, and graduate/non-students guesting for teams.

These really depend on our aims for the event. I'll also speak to the clubs about this.

I'll let you all know how I get on. :)

EDIT: Ian (AKA Jose) beat me to it. Perhaps i should write shorter posts :p
