Inter-Uni Tournament :):)

Ahmen to that! ;)

I don't really think that 'too close to the holidays' is a valid reason for the inter uni last year falling through. We cleared date with all the other uni clubs before setting it to try getting a maximum turn out.

Student apathy is the big problem. I know alot of people at various uni's worked their asses off to try to get a team together but couldn't get the other students to commit. Shame, lets hope we can get something going this year.

Yup, Students are the only people who are more apathetic than Paintballers :)
And I'm not having a go at students for the sake of it... I've got a Biomed degree and PGCE, so I was one for long enough. It was just as bad trying to get things going when I was 'on the inside' so to speak,

Cheers for that, I think a lot of the problem lies with paintballs image in Scotland.
Not, like a lot would imagine, that it has a bad image (although to a certain extent it does), but that it has NO image.
People arent really aware of Paintball, and when they are its the once-yearly-guys-with-guns-in-woods kinda deal.

Its quite a struggle to get people to recognise Paintball for the multi-mural activity it really is. Most of our players started off as rec-ballers, most will prefer to remain like that (to be honest, everybody enjoys creeping about in the woods :)). But we do have a growing number of people indoctrinated (hehe) into tourney ball.
Ill give thos guys a PM...

Things are starting to get better down in england, at freshers this year we had a substantial number of people coming to our stall asking us about tourney ball. Probabley at least in part due to Capmaign cup being held at the NEC in Brum , and the PA being shown on the Big screen in our Guild of Students.

Regarding student apathy, i sometimes dispair.

But you guys are cheering me up again. :)

Anyway, work, laundry, & wife all need doing. ;) Speak later.

Ive got them to show Sky sports paintball now in my SU aswell now, hopefully will start to attract more interest.

I can honestly say though i think its gonna be tough for me to find 7 people who want to commit to a team but i should be able to get 5.

Why don't you start scouting around now? Much easier to get something off the ground if theres already interest ;)

We also have that problem when trying to get new team members. The core of our club is rec-ballers and to be honest i think it'll always be that way.

We ran a very successful event last saturday to try to introduce people into tourney ball. We took about 40 rec-ballers to NPF for a morning of rec, then in the afternoon we ran some 'tourney taster' games on the sup'air field up there. It was a chance for our members to shoot some ions (fast expencive markers to them) and just get a tast of tourney ball. From the back of that we've had alot of interest but we couldnt do it without the rec side of the club.
