That's good if promoting the club off the back of the tourney side of things works for you. We do publicize this when we are recruiting as well, but some people find the idea of going straight into "tournaments" a bit intimidating and less-accessible then casual recreational games.Originally posted by AUPaintSoc
Yeah same with us, except we try and promote the colourful, exciting side of paintball (tourney) to make people think that theres more to the sport. We have some markers on display, people either in tourney gear and camo gear, and a couple of laptops running vids on a loop. Seemed to work!!! We charge £10 per year as well....
That's great mate, a lot of the clubs I’m speaking to seem to be more interested in taking paintball to the tournament level, so with a little luck we should be able to get a tourney sorted.Originally posted by AUPaintSoc
Oh and I’ve definitely got a up to a 10-man team for any kind of inter-uni setup...
I'll look into that, now we have got a load of freshers interested in tourney it would be good to get them off to an event.Originally posted by AUPaintSoc
Any uni teams going to the 3-man UK Masters next month? I believe we have two teams entered, mebbe 3..... Would be cool to meet up with some of you!!!
I was thinking that 5-man might be better than 7-man, firstly because more teams will be able to enter, but also because teams will be able to pile into one car if necessary.Originally posted by Michael Merola
I can honestly say though i think its gonna be tough for me to find 7 people who want to commit to a team but i should be able to get 5.
The thing is, I believe up here the majority of Students (and at the Freshers Fayre, first year Students) arent really aware of tournament Paintball, and so it just looks like a really cool new sport. To be fair, which looks more exciting, guys in camo moving slowly through trees, or a full sized speedball court... Plus I believe its a lot less threatening and militaristic than rec-ball, which puts a lot of people off...Originally posted by Steve Hancock

If you can get the teams interested we'll set up for you...... Ten teams, £300 a team (7 man), we'll put £1000 back into prizes.
Sup air, perfect flat fields. And all in Durham. (Same location as the original PA cup and storming the castle). We can also sort out kit (Ions to rent etc....). And paint would be BYO or various grades available at heavilly discounted rates for the non-sponsored teams. (Basically a one off Top-Gun sponsorship).
There ya go, you get the bodies together.
We offered the same last year....... nothing happened.
So, lets see what happens this time
Email me.
Tournament paintball with a good chance of a cash prize and all for the same as a days rec ball.
Shouldn't be too hard to get ten teams interested should it?
