I don't think the insertion is anything more sinister than the makers following a well trodden tradition of 'spicing it up'.
I don't think for one second it's indicative of any trend in paintball to glorify violence or even to highlight it, merely to reflect it in its content.
I mean, I have seen ten times worse in other sports while watching American TV, let's get some perspective here guys.

The "other" sports in which fights occur whether on a regular basis or not "tend" to be contact sports where tempers can get frayed due to a heavy contact. Paintball is a Non-contact sport so to include a full contact right hook is not that good an idea...ok could be clever marketing to get us to buy the DVD and then be dissapointed that the fight isn't in the released version but by then they have our money. But to glorify full contact tantrums is not the way forward, the makers of the trailer knew what they were doing and included the segment to get people talking...are any of you saying how good the snap shooting was, how badly the players who got lit up made their move..no you are talking about a guy stamping his feet in temper and guy with a swift right hand.

Whilst it's not something I would advocate, I think we're in danger of getting a little high and mighty...

After all the hype in this thread I was expecting a spectacular kick off and was quite frankly a little disappointed. What's the big deal really? It was just one punch and not even a particulaly good one! Jesus, you get a whole lot worse than that every week at Sunday league football. It isn't even like they highlighted that particular edit, it was only about a second long ????

However, as has already been said, that's the sort of thing that gets peoples attention and will only get worse once Xball is televised. This thread is proof of its potency in whipping up interest...

Aside from all that though, it was one of the best trailers (thanks a lot to the encoding which for once was well done) for a PB production I have seen. Nicely done...

Mark, I have to disagree with you on the non-contact bit. While it is true we don't generally touch each other physically with our bodies, we go out of our way to contact each other with paintballs. It is a full contact sport. The only difference is the mechanism with which you do the contacting. Contact plus a mark is required to make an elimination. This sport is all about contact, sometimes from so close I would rather be punched, lol. DVD looks killer and I will probably get it. I don't think that in this instance the little tiff will hurt our sport because it is being marketed inside the circle, not outside it. When paintball is mainstream and on TV, then editing it to make it as positive as possible will be a good idea since there will be a far greater likelihood of someone not playing already being introduced to the sport through viewership. The people buying this video are most likely already playing and including the tiff will be appreciated for what it is, highly entertaining examples of bad sportsmanship. I have seen far worse in the parking lots at little league games and between soccer moms. Trust me, you don't want to show up at a disturbance between soccer moms until they are tired. Otherwise you will end up spraying one or the other, and that's never good. :D

The problem as I see it, if the big bad outside world should see stuff like this, is that despite frantoc efforts on our behalf, we are still seen as a bunch of gun toting, yeehaw hollering, cousin humpin' rednecks that like to crawl around in camo by a large part of the outside world. Now, seeing Sup'Air in releases like this, might give them a small education, but the sad truth is that people only see what they want to see. And fights and tempers flaring will only reinforce this image.
What worries me is the recent sounds of very bad things happening during NXL games. What if that is the standard shown to the world?

If you were that guy who punched the other player do you think you would be a little pissed off if you were takin a lot of hits from him at less than a few feet?

I sure would but i wouldnt hit the guy, having control is a factor in this game which a lot of people lack.
