It only serves to prove people like Dr. Zumbardo right, and gives them ammunition.
And most sports do downplay violence that happens. I'm watching ESPN now, they're showing baseball highlights. For the most part, if a guy gets beaned with a ball, and it makes a run happen, it's mentioned as part of the story. They don't go slow-motion into fights, it's just "what happened". And if a bench-clearing brawl happens, they mention it, not highlight it. The only exception is to mention things like beanballs that knock a player out of the game, they'll show that to show how vcious the hit is. But, for the most part, it's not the highlight they really show.
I still think paintball needs a media coach.

I agree with you, paintball does need a media coach, and it looks as though Dick Clark has stepped up to the plate on that one, but that's another story !
But please Tyger, you make it sound as though you guys try to sanitize any inappropriate physical contact; while you guys may not make it the centerpiece for the coverage, any physical indiscretions are sure highlighted during the presentation.
I have seen on many occasions over there, rerun after rerun after rerun of NHL, NFL, NBA fights, some pretty nasty ones so please do not try and tell me the networks downplay its coverage.
There is a tacit approval here from the sponsors because in the end, people like to see that sh!t, and people 'liking' anything means people pay, it's as simple as that.
I don't agree with it on many levels but let's not lose sight of reality here.
And I sure ain't advocating any form of contact in paintball as a means to an end, it sux, bad behaviour sux, I hate it but denying its appeal to some people is sticking yer head in the sand.
