Lane:
First of all, I want to thank you personally for choosing 68Caliber.Com for at least part of your news fix. I appreciate the fact that your time is limited, and you feel that 68 is one of the places you go to keep yourself informed.
However, I find it a bit disturbing that you've formed such a low opinion of me, and it would appear to be based on factually incorrect information.
First of all, let me state that nothing about PSP gives me a 'hard on' for the league or the people who run it. I save that sort of thing for my wife.
Furthermore, the incident you mention that causes this alleged engorgement took place at the 2004 World Cup...nobody, and I mean nobody has that sort of stamina. Mr. Morris and I argued at length on this site about the legality of the Fly'd Adrenalin LCD that was temporarily deemed illegal at that event. From what friends in Norway tell me, he still insists to this day that the marker was 'adding shots'. I maintain that the marker was legal, and the fact that the penalty that was initially assessed against my team was later reversed, and our points given back to us as proof positive that Rosie and whomever else was involved in that decision that the marker was legal. Or at the very least, it couldn't be proved illegal, especially since nobody but Mr. Morris and the player who was using the marker at the time of the penalty ever actually shot it. During my meeting with Rosie directly after the penalty was assessed, I asked him repeatedly to shoot it to see for himself, and he refused to do so. Yet I later overheard conversations between him and others stating that "There's a problem" with the Shocktech field (The one Mr. Morris was running).
Moving on, the allegation that I'm pursuing an agenda to 'take down' the PSP via negative reporting is laughable. If you genuinely believe that I have that power, then you've got larger issues in life that might need to be dealt with. I don't have the power to take anyone down, nor do I have the desire to. The only power I have is to tell the truth as I see it, and considering the level of in-person support and written support from players who populate your league as well as others would indicate to me that telling the truth is preferable to the pre-packaged PR that we in the media are often spoon fed, such as the latest releases from NPPL and your organization.
I also want to thank you for verifying that Market Access Corporation is the agent for your insurance. When I spoke with the gentleman who owns that company last year, to ask him if he was aware that the ASTM doesn't consider ramping to be an approved mode of fire (ASTM only recognizes 1 shot 1 pull 'true' semi), he very adroitly avoided answering any questions I had, and in fact refused to confirm or deny that PSP was a customer of his. Once I figured out I was going to run into a brick wall on that story, I let it drop, since I couldn't find verifying information.
As for Mr. Drew, I honestly barely know him as a person. I have castigated him at length on my radio show for allowing the programming on his boards to be used in an illegal (per most leagues rules) fashion. To this day I don't understand what fathomable use a debounce setting of under 4 would have in a structured environment like a tournament, which has rules. After actually meeting him in person and talking with him a bit, I understand a bit more now. Jim Drew is an engineer. Based on my years as a Aircraft Instrument Technician, I know that when you're talking to an engineer, it helps is you're on their same intellectual level, or you're able to at least fake it well. While Drew may have made a mistake in how he set his filters up in the original WAS boards, I don't think it was ever his intent for them to be used to cheat with. However, that's my opinion based on what little I know of the man's personality. I understand that Mr. Drew is on the ASTM board, and that the issue of ramping was on their agenda. I don't know at this time how the voting went, but given your negative opinion of Mr. Drew, I would assume that the voting to allow 15bps Ramping as a viable, "safe" mode of fire for general use in PB didn't go the way you wished.
Lane, let me make myself crystal clear: during the course of this crusade you allege me to be involved against your league, I've given your PR people as well as Rosie himself opportunity to respond to allegations leveled at your league by whomever was leveling them before publication on my website. In every instance, that opportunity wasn't taken. I'm not going to take your hand and write responses for you. That's not what I do. Furthermore, I would also like to make it clear that I could care less on how you feed your family. If the PSP in fact supports your family, then I would imagine that you would be hell-bent on producing the best product for your customers, the players, rather than worrying about what some writer has to say about it. In the end, that's all I am. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.
I would also like to make clear my relationship with Mr. Davidson. We are indeed friends, and I've known him for several years. At this time I am a sponsored player. I personally and my team receive support from him and X.O. Industries to practice and play at major events. I would also like to add that I have similar relationships with Dennis Ashley at Centerflag Products, all of the Angel Force Master Techs, as well as Mondo and Rosey Garcia at Animal Paintball. In no case have any of these people ever expressed dissatisfaction with how I represented them, and in fact several of them were the loudest amongst the ones supporting me and my team during the incident you mischaracterized at the 2004 World Cup. I would like to add that at that event, we were not involved with X.O. at all, and were shooting ZAP Chronic Paintballs.
And finally sir, several people within your organization have my contact information, so you have no excuse whatsoever for waiting over a year to complain about an alleged crusade on my part. Using that improvable and fallacious fantasy as a way to try and discredit a sponsor of mine is well below what your reputation would suggest.
However, I do happen to agree with you on at least one thing: Baca Loco does indeed rock.
