I know someones probly already said this but I feel that the tacitcs side of paintball is just a show as in once the game starts all you really have to go on iss your instincts and whether or not you can control your urges to stay put or to run like a machine toting maniac.

Coaching wise why would you want someone outside of the game telling you what to do. There not in the situation of having balls of paint fired at stupidly/funny speeds towards there cranium.

Its the same in all sports. Eventually its going to get to the point when people are going to end up like that old football advert which showed the england team practicing to get hurt from tackles.

Lets not forget that before we legitamised sideline coaching it still existed.

Remember the strategicly placed spectator shadowing your snake player?
Or the the difference a partisan crowd makes when one team is the home favorite?

At least coaching offers some legitemate means of evening the odds...

sorry nick, just trying to lighten the mood... It is the worst thing in paintball. You ask anyone who has played with sideline coaching, how many times they have been shot out making a run though. or even how many people you have managed to out gun fight when your oposite has a dude on the side telling them when your posting and when your reloading.

whats the point of learning how to fight when your legs are tired at the event.

So practice reloading. It's not sideline coaching's fault that you can't reload fast enough.

Sideline coaching doesn't really change the game much - it just makes people's skill deficiencies more obvious. Before you could get away wih not being able to reload fast since nobody knew what was up, now if your reloading skills suck you're going to get shot out. So practice.

Before you could sneak up and bunker a guy without cooperation from your team and without being able to run AND accurately shoot your opponents bunker so that if he did come out to shoot you you shoot him instead (remember, you know where he is and he doesn't know where you are). Now, if you can't get your teammates to shoot the bunker you're going to take out, and you can't acccurately shoot the bunker you're going for to keep the guy from comingout and getting you, well, you're going to get owned.

But again, the problem isn't the sideline coaching itself, the sideline coaching just makes it obvious that your skills are weak.

Sideline coaching is the new reffing - ask anyone who is getting beat why they are getting beat and they'll find something to blame. Coaching is the latest scapegoat. You can use sideline coaching too, and if you're getting beat, it's simply because the other team is playing better than you are.

Not trying to take Missy's place, but I could not disagree with you more.

Ok, so the practice bit is good advice, however sideline coaching changes the game completely.

When you don't know whether your opponent is loading or just waiting for you to come out is EXACTLY what makes this game so fun to play.

It boils down to the individual skill of the player to take the initiative and go take the "loading" player down. It also evens the playing field for the less skilled. It evens the odds a lot. If a good player from a pro team has the advantage of knowing 100% for sure that a guy on the other team is loading, what chances does the other team have? None! You take the only advantage that they may have, which is the paintball equivallent of "fog of war".

Coaching is like playing hide and seek, and not count to a hundred with your eyes closed. Ergo: sideline "coaching" sucks A**.
