Would it not be a good idea to have prizes for the best marshalling team????
The majority of the marshalls were great and workd really hard, but am afraid the Raven marshalls and Evil pigs kinda let them all down.

If we had a prize then there might be a bit more of an incentive, or if the best marshalling team was thanked on the stage at the end or sumthin

I agree they need paying and thats that, but people must of known of the marshalls on the angel fields standard at marshalling and they should of not marshalled. but they let them, so why not play any Am a or pro games on there and only let Am B and novice on, surely this is not fair??

I would suggest that before they get paid, they need to be trained. Then they need to be certified and graded.

I know there will always be complaints about less qualified judges on lower-grade teams, but that's the way all sports run. You'll never find a "weekend" football referee in charge of a premiership match. That's the way it has to run in this sport too.

If you want to play in an event as big and spectacular as the Campaign Cup was, you have to accept that. The only other option (and it's not really an option, as it would probably price the event out of the reach of most novice teams) would be to have professional refs that ran the lower grade event earlier in the week. You would then not get the full feeling of the event, as there would be (almost) NOBODY there to watch, apart from the other lower grade teams, who are likely to be playing next.

That's exactly what they did. Fields 7 and 8 had only Am B and Novice games. I think that this was done for two reasons though - one is that the fields were much smaller (actually they were wider than they were long), and two is that they thought that NR's and Pulsion wouldn't do a very good job marshalling. They were wrong about us, but apparently not about Pulsion, as I heard a lot of people on our field compaining about them.

so what are we saying, are we saying pro teams cannot play on small fields as it is beneath them?, if thats the case then we seriously need a rethink in our sport!.

chris:, you guys did a great job on field 8. i played 3 or 4 games on there and the marshalling was exellent. no complaints whatsoever.

Thanks for that. We gave 100%.

No, I don't think the fact that they were small was the real reason. I asked why there were no Pro or Am A games up there, and I think that they just told me that because they didn't want to say that they didn't have much confidence in us.

I think you guys did well the two times I played your field - except for that one guy that seemed to have gotten out of the wrong side of bed that morning....... you know what I mean.

Likewise Nick.

I don't know what his problem was, but he just felt the need to be a harda$$. My apologies. Quite a few people mentioned that to me, so I put him up in the middle. He was doing a great job though with the clothing / id-card / gun check. Very thorough, but not very friendly.

I thought he was going to throw you into the dead box in the first game! :D

It depends on your definition of bonus balling. Effectively, it is up to the marshall. I don't know your exact situation, but in the past you have mentioned that you can outshoot an egg. With that rate of fire, it would be concievable to have roughly 20 balls in the air at any time.

If you say that it takes the marshall .2 seconds to call the elimination and the firer .1 seconds to react, that's another 7 or 8 balls on their way after the first ball has hit. On top of that, it takes a marshall a little time to check that the first one hits you, and not the barricade or ground near you...

All I can say is it's a tricky call, but perhaps you need to consider yourselves worthy opponents if the team gave you that much lovin! ;)

(Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning bonus balling, just pointing out one side of the coin)
sorry about the late reply,
basically, we played crossfire on field 1(rps), i was playing front(yes front for all you non-believers:rolleyes: ) and i just bunkered a guy out the snake, then got hit, so called myself and walked off, about 5 seconds later i recieved a healthy 10+ balls in the back/head/neck etc so proceeded to turn around and shout f*** off as loud as i could and i got a nice response from the crowd:). it wasnt just me that got bonus balled though, every member of our team got it, and they even shot the dead box(not accidentally) needless to say they got no hand shakes etc at the end, and my dislike for the french(most of anyway) has now increased alot and got me in a foul mood for a few hours, mainly because the fact i stooped to their level and swore at them(i dont swear on field)
