heres an idea....

I really enjoyed the Weekend But hey i do Marshall and , yes bad calls do happen , but we dont moan when the bad call goes for us do we , Yes i seen some sloppy Marshaling , and poor 1 for1s but the way forward maybe abandon the id cards especially after there was so much THEFT , id consider them a waste of time paying more for better marshalls much worth while and money well spent, but you have to ask yourself where does the event organiser find em?
if all else fails I certanally think splitting the marshalls up so its not teams and Freinds marshaling and maybe two Ultimates per field. just like the 4th Official in a football match,

But hats off to all the good calls on the day, and well done all the marshalls that had to tolerate all the abuse and hot weather , and all the shots they took

just my 2p worth , but hey i loved the experience , as it was my 1st campaign,
the **** thing is i get Married on the 11/sept and my missus wont let me change the date WOTS WRONG WITH HER.ah well just do a different millenium event

Because the money for the id cards pays for the scheduling to be done. the id cards are not redundant, and if you play the whole series like i have thenit works out at 6euros per event. which is very little.

Just some toughts.

What if the promoters of the field where responsible for that field.
Means: f. ex on the Tomahawk field, Tomahawk where altso responsible to hold the field with refs.
Means they can have something back from the teams they are sponsoring too.:D
And then we can complain directly to the sponsors.
Of course 2 sides of this as well, but hopefully one step closer to better reffed tournaments. :)

just like to thank all the fair teams

having marshalled 2 campaign cups now, i was looking froward to marshalling this one.
i would like to thank all the teams that have supported all the marshall's here.
bad calls were made :every field marshalled over 100 games i think (may be wrong)
and out of all them we only got problems from about 5 of them.
all i gotta say about all the crap that has been said about it is, if you think you can do better then do it .
shockwave 3 took a lot of proud in marshalling as do shockwave am and im with sam when people have the gaul to come on a forum and just ripp us apart.
once again thank you to all the fair and decent teams who have supported the marshall's

Is this such a bad idea?

all the field sponsors also sponsor teams - they just need to write things in to the contracts to say you will marshall our field at one event.
Would they tell the promoters to take a hike? Probably

What is the cost of travel expenses for a marshalling team to large companies like RPS, Splatch, Tomahawk etc.

Not trying to start anything with you Nick, but the Sweddish NPPL judges aren't the best I have seen. As a matter of fact, being that I have played in both Europe and the U.S., I felt that the judging in Europe was better than what I have seen in this past Super 7 season. I don't know what the answer is, but just because you pay someone doesn't mean that solves the problem. Just my 2 cents worth.;)

Hey Chip, I gotta disagree, every American I have spoken to over there (and remember, I have been to every one of the NPPL's this season) regards the Swedes as the best judges they have seen.
For the most part, the Swedish judges do their job impartially and professionally and have now achieved enormous respect amongst the vast majority of the US players who play the NPPL.
In fact, Ronnie Kilbourne, one of the NPPL rules committee, said to me last week, that it is imperative the NPPL get as many Swedish judges as is possible over for Miami so as to ensure a smoothly run tournament with regard to adjudication.
I don't think endorsements come any better than that !

There are of course some great US judges but I'm afraid even they would concede the outstanding quality of the Swedes.
I have seen well over a hundred NPPL games this season Chip and believe me, the Swedes rule !
But I do agree with you that paying people doesn't necessarily mean they perform professionally, I'm afriad that is down to training and management but that state of affairs can be applied to every walk of professional life and in no way should deter us from going down that road.

Well pointed out Robbo. Training has to be the first step for better marshalling. As mentioned before numerous times - anyone can step on to a Pro game and marshall.

However the payment must follow. Alot of people, not all, will loose the cutting edge and awareness to marshall after the first day - let alone go on for another two days after. If they have an incentive to do a good job it makes the whole thing less tedious and they are more likely to perform.

Point well taken Pete. In every debate, everyone has their own experiences and opinions and those were mine. My real point was to show that paying refs isn't the answer, but I still hold true to my words to say that in MY experience, the NPPL refs haven't lived up to the hype.
