I have to say I love playing rec ball but it is just the money my local site is point blank which is ok but like a lot of paintball sites it is all about the money £6 for 100 or £95 a box   which is just a rip off as we all know how much sites pay for they crap paint sweet FA. Which is ok for people who go paintballing one or two times a year. I was going every month and I was paying £95 for a box. And 2000 paintballs do not last long..

I think the sites should stop ripping ballers off with there paintballs prices..
I think you should think about the cost of:

"Cost of paying for x acres of Land
Cost of paying taxes on x acres of land.
Maintaining roads/access on x acres of land.
Clearing briars, fallen logs, trash, etc. on x acres of land.
Repairing and Maintaining x amount of buildings; painting, broken boards, electrical, plumbing, etc.
Building and erecting new structures; buildings, bunkers, walls, etc.
Paying for porta-loos every month.
Utilities; Propane, Electricity, Dumpster, Oil.
Buying and Maintaining mowers, weedwackers, chain saws, tools, hoses, ladders, etc.
Gas and Oil for above vehicles and tools.
Buying and Maintaining Scuba Compressors, high pressure fill stations, and x bottle fill set up.
Buying and Maintaining CO2 Fill Stations and Scales.
Buying and installing New 12' Safety Netting every two years.
Buying and Maintaining Rental Guns, Masks, Parts, Camos, Bottles, etc.
Buying and Maintaining Commercial Cooking equipment, Stainless Steel Utensils, etc for serving food.
Buying a Phone System and paying Phone Bills.
Buying and Maintaining Office Equipment; Computers, Printers, Fax Machine, Copier, Typewriter, Laminating Machine, Desks, Chairs, Storage Cabinets, etc.
Training Safety Certified Referees and providing them with Backpacks, Ref Shirts, Whistles, First Aid Kits, Hand Held Chronos, Radar Chronos, Squeegees, Lens Cleaner, Water Bottles, Paper Towels, etc.
Advertising; Flyers, Brochures, Web Page, Ads in Magazines, Ads in Newspapers, traveling to and purchasing booth space at big events.
Employing a full time Operations Manager, Field Manager, Head Referee.
Employing up to 30 part time refs to run the games.
Paying for Liablity Insurance.
Paying for Insurance on x buildings."

we,ve heard the argument before mate and your right about the expences
but back to the topic
i think its all down to the number of big game bieng set up nowadays
if you listed them you can play them 1 a month now so people are buying
camo kit it is more relaxed no sreeming at the refs and so forth
i like playing both ,but i dont like the if you play woods you use a woods gun
and if you play tourney you you use a tourney gun mentality

Well there are two things here...

1. New people coming into play rec ball
2. Players going back into the woods

1. I think you are right about the markers Markie. The SP8 looks like military hardware and has a pull for anyone fancing a grown up game of war in the woods. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It is no different than people playing military computer games and the like. It is also good as it brings more revenue into paintball companies. More new players means more potential for crossover players in the future if they fancy something more competitive.

2. Players going back into the woods. I think there is a generation of players now hitting the wrong side of 30 and beyond who have heard so much rhetoric and so much pissing and moaning from events, players, manufacturers, journalists, sponsors etc that they perhaps can't remember why they even play. Some sell up and move onto something else, others are trying to re-kindle their desire to play by moving back to where they started. Like dating a girl again for the first time, but with bigger welts.

Positive signs I suppose, in a weird kind of way. Perhaps tournament ball is just moving out of vogue for a spell?

That is exactly the stage I am at - why bother with Supair if you ain't enjoying it anymore. Plus I'm the wrong side of 30 !! lol

me either i use a mix, interesting how i can still get zapped by a tippy even though i got me a spitfired ir3 though

...

tournaments -
lots of preparation, lots of travelling, lots of waiting, a bit of playing, lots more waiting...

woodsball/indoor/walk on's -
turn up, play instantly, and for long enough to get bored, go to pub.

recball -
''my guns better than yours''.

i know what most of my m8's prefer, and its not much fun ballin' on your own... its just a matter of interests.
i dont know much about rec ball, but there seems to be an aim for ''realism''. i.e - its not enough to shoot paint from a marker, its got to be with a 6 foot long , recoiling, silenced machine gun looky-likey with a bipod, lasers, scopes, torches, grenade launchers, toothpicks and anything else they can stick, strap or glue to the b*st*rd. ( mind you, it does have a certain appeal...:) )

some people like ballin.

some people love ballin.

some people live ballin...

dunno about that, there's a real lot of tourney spec stuff being used in the woods, lots of 20 stone guys in yellow jerseys too! real mix now, especially with ego's being reasonable prices, hell of a lot of ions for some reason, think they remind older ballers of automags
