Would you, Robbo, or you others who are against the 15bps cap plus ramping consider a cap without ramping and that cap set at whatever rate players can really achieve with true semiauto, be it 15, 16, 17 or more? Since the players who use gun cheats want substantially more than what is humanly possilble, i.e. 25+, wouldn't it be good to have a verifiable means to catch them?

Then we could stop the most dangerous and unfair cheats while trying to work out how to stop ramping on the way up to the cap.

Thoughts?

There arent many players using gun cheats to achieve rates of fire above 25bs.

More widespread is guns shooting 18bps consistently, which is less obvious to catch than guns shooting over 20bps

Also, the cap at 15bps in semi only would be a good idea, but have you ever shot a gun with a 15bps cap on it? Its impossible to get over 12bps unless you have unbelievably fast fingers due to the limited trigger scans on the trigger activity.

A cap of 15 would see few people shooting more than 12 bps legally.

Its a hard issue to police, and decide upon a policy of implementation. The question of "Where do you draw the line" is a complicated one

On a stock angel LCD (for example) this is true but modern boards scan the trigger up to a million times per second regardless of what the rate of fire is capped at.

Robbo,

Has someone put a bet on with you as to how many times you can say English in one thread ;)

I have read the National Champions Thread, took me a while mind you also the Mak super Team thread....okay want my thoughts.

I think part of the reason we have 3 teams in the NPPL is pure British Desire, we want to be the best we can. Whether they are English is neither here nor there, they could be Irish, Welsh, Scottish, English or come from the Isle of Man, but what they have is the guts to step up to the plate in the NPPL Pro league and have a go, win, lose or draw, they are playing it.

I take my hat of to NeXus, Tigers and Shockwave it takes alot of hard work and dedication to get where they are, and I hope they keep it going.

Why are there not more teams like that in the UK, okay money is a big factor, time off work, relationships etc. You will find with these three pro teams that most of the players work in the paintball industry, PMI, NPS, Planet etc and as much as the NPPL is an event they play they probably work as well. Take Millenniums for example, I have seen guys from the top UK pro teams play their games and then start working, not like other teams who hit the bars after it, they work. So they get up earlier to set up trade stands etc, they finish later, they work and play....not easy.

I'm sure when Ledz goes to an event he doesn't turn up half an hour before game on and goes to the bar 5 minutes after game end.

Gun Cheats....hhmmm....I have been playing PA this season with ramping, I had my doubts about it but after using it I liked it, just my opinion....however, on sunday we ran a training day without ramping...my fingers have got lazy, in my opinion on the gun cheats, true semi capped at 18 bps. I can only hit 14 so not going to affect me any.

Anyway.....to wrap up.....it's UK paintball, not English, I'm proud to see UK teams doing well in the NPPL even if they do not come from my home country and keep it going.....

Sid

PS see you all at the XSV Clinic...unless your too good to go??

Not entirely correct mate, none of our team work in the Industry other than the owner who has a site in Bristol, but thats not really in the industry in the way you meant it. To my knowledge none of the Tigers work in the Industry, again one or two may be involved with sites, but thats all. As far as Nexus go, Tommy is at PMI, Ledz and Nicky T at Planet, but thats it.

All of the players on the three teams have either proper jobs.....or are unemployed hand to mouth urchins;)

And as for the gun cheats, Pete is not talking about an environment where everyone is shooting 15bps ramping. He is specifically talking about an environment where many people are playing with guns shooting in excess of 15 bps with enhanced modes on their guns. Modes which other teams are not using, further distorting the playing field.

not really, i wouldn't say most of the players at all. a few of them.

the rest do have real jobs and relationships and stuff. but id agree that they work after playing. they may go and get showered and what not after playing but then they are straight back down to help the sponsors. i doubt many of them get paid for it.

edit: regards to your mispost. i didn't think many of the tigers were working in the industry. i am most likely wrong. but like you said above, its the dedication that keeps them going.

I guess it's the way I look at paintball, I own a site and Captain my Team, so as much as I'm not a retailer, or National, Planet etc, I still consider myself in the industry, and as such pass the site benefits onto the team, most of my team marshal my site as well, so they get more.
