There are two massive and maybe insoluble problems that the Millennium board have, firstly, at no time, do any of them consult the teams.
As Acsik so succinctly puts it, we are the paying customers for God's sake and these guys go about their business, making these stupid decisions and expecting us, the paying customer, to just bow our heads, utter thanks, and obey.
Who the frikkin hell do they think they are ?
I mean, if you are going to make decisions, like the dead box fiasco, the padded jerseys debacle, the mandatory pro reffing scandal, the X-Ball Jerseys shambles, the Strange / Dynasty calamity, the ID card scam and so on, at least consult the facking teams.

And if you ain't going to consult the teams, at least try and come up with a decision that bears some resemblance to common sense and not as tho it's been produced by a bunch of Muppets.

The second massive problem they have is they (The Millennium Board) do not speak with one voice.
Some members of that group have their own agendas that reach far outside that of tournament promotion, much like the PSP has had going on for many years. This leads to a confused approach and inconsistent promotion of events and so on.

These guys have now proved they can't do the job as a collective with regard to the coherent management of a tournament series, this much is obvious.

But where does this leave the teams coz at the moment this is the only game in town ?
Well, I'm sure the year will unfold much as it was meant to, with the rest of the series going ahead and frantic attempts being made to save face and put right what was wrong but the chemistry is not right within the members of that board for there to be any long term successes associated with the Millennium.

Things will have to change dramatically and whether that change is bought about by a direct competitor or internal fracturing, a change will have to be made, make no mistake about that.
And the change should include a team represented input to that board with voting rights, associated with any rule or procedure that the board might think appropriate.

I also advocate, as I have done before, a fully INDEPENDANT rules committee set well away from the grubby little interfering hands of anybody who might wish to tinker with them.

We all know the people who are qualified to do this sorta stuff, we also know the people we don't want anywhere near it, it's up to the teams to get some form of team representation going, much like Mattie Schmidt of Shockwave tried to do a year or so back, and then just enforce this mandate onto the promoters.

at least the id card system sort of worked...

i mean people got their cards on time, but they did not need them.

i thought that the cards were for security, if so how come anyone could walk in and out of the tents and people has stuff nicked.

also my uni worked hard to get a photographer and reporter that are NUS press passed to the event, when they get there they are told that there are no passes for them (even though a couple of emails were sent to the orgabisers) and that they could only go on certain fields and certain times - i think that when the story of portsmouth uni being at this tourney is wirtten up for the uni paper (18000 potential readers in portsmouth - then potentially all uni students in the NUS mag) there will be some comments on that.

but they did give free lanyards:rolleyes:

....do I smell something cooking???

It seems that there is a need, and it seems there is a drive! The only thing we need is effort and a cordinated one while we are at it.

Sooo I say we should have the team captains of teams who have the necessary name/weight/trackrecord, sit together and as the cheap pop song with that fine a$$ said "Work it out".

OR

Might I suggest a participating team captain's meeting in Amsterdam or wichever is the next leg...

Peace

well why don't y'all start off with your Nations Cup captains - they can then liaise with captains from their home countries as and when...

Talking of which, is that tha end of Euro X-Ball already? Did you get your money back or are y'all selling shirts on street corners?:D

Last year the Yanks couldn't organise a 'piss up in a brewery' and the Millnnium Series is the best thing since sliced bread.

This year the Yanks organise the best tourny ever and the Millennium is crap!

What is going on?

The thing Mattie AND I - tried to start two years ago failed - because the teams didn't give a flying f**k !
For the first founding meeting no one showed up - and when we tried again, only 8 captains showed, even if it was in direct continuation of the Toulouse captains meeting - all they had to do was stick around and listen !
Biggest problem is the indifference of most players !
Nick
Apologies Nick for my most glaring omission :)
And you are right, if the teams can't be bothered to get off their asses and do something, then none of them have the right to moan.
But what they do, is end up voting with their feet, coz u can bet your bottom dollar Nick, if an alternative comes along, and we both know what that's gonna be, then I think, those same teams will just elect to go there.....lazy bast#rds :)

Anyway, Sergei just called me and I eventually asked him what the hell happened in Portugal, he told me, 'there was no one thing', rather little things conspiring to work against his team's overall performance.
He went on to explain that part of the reason was because it is still snowing in Moscow and they haven’t been able to practice playing in a seven man format yet and to go from playing four or five man indoor formats to Millennium seven man, is going to be difficult to negotiate for any team.
Anyway, not too much to worry about really coz he will nail it all down once he has seen all the vids and done his post-tournament analysis.

Roland, I think you will find the best tournament ever in America (Huntingdon Beach) was in fact, promoted by an English company, WDP in the form of Pure Promotions :)
