In answer to Jose, yes i agree if you make the air source so good that it will pass the bottles pressure through to the gun, then that is wrong.
But, as i've been saying in my threads, they must at least be able to pass the working pressure of the gun.
Pneumatic equipment has a working pressure rating, this is what the equipment is designed to do, they also have a safety margin of 1 : 3. This means that a fitting or hose could pass 3 times the working pressure, but is not designed to do.

Let's take the Angel as an example. After the AIR reg and before any fiitings, there should be a blow off valve set to 900 psi. Then between the blow off valve and the minireg the hose and fittings should be able to pass 900 psi safely. This is how smart parts do it, and it works, albeit at a lower pressure, but the principle is still the same.

jose....

in repose to your last post.... i totally agree with you on insisting on your team mates wearing there masks when filling. BUT when i had my accident in france i was walking back to the staging area when it happend NOT when i was filling, does this mean if we continue to use low pressure hose we have to wear our googles all day with out taking them off..... i really dont think this is the answer...we need to acheive some kind of happy medium. i really dont think using the weakness of plastic pipe as a safety valve is the best thing for player safety..... we need to have some kind of SAFE pressure relief valve or burst disc (as russell says) which can open if a fault should occur, without send potencial fatal projectiles in the direction of players.....most importantly we need to have some kind ruling and standardisation of a SAFE way of transfering air from system to marker.....

i had a long conversation with trevor from h pac and have to say our thinking was very simular on many points and safety issues...

SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE........NOW i was lucky the next person might not be.....

Just had a nose at the angel AIR reg, and there is a vent for the reg, I'm not sure of its vent pressure, but it is after the reg. I will check with WDP in the morning, so there's one point sorted at least for Angel AIR.

As far as any hose, fittings, valves, gas throughs, secondary regs, if the air reg can't pass any more than 10% more than the rated pressure of the marker then problem solved.

Blow off, or a vent system on the reg, so it stops there.

right this could potencially be the death of paintball.... if accidents and near misses continue to happen and the hse decide to step in and take a look WHY... they could potencially ban the use of paintball markers until such time as a safe way of tranfering air is a acheived..... or BAN THEM COMPLETLY..... yes this might sound a little extreme but is our safety NOT EXTREMLY IMPORTANT....

WE NEED SOMETHING DONE NOW

Site owners know about the importance of health and safety, just ask them about insurance. Apparently it's getting difficult to obtain insurance on paintball, let's not make it impossible guys.

BE SAFE

i was thinking along the same lines the other day, i have seen impys and shockers with an pressure vent so that they dont pop the 'noid, maybe we should have something similar fitted to all markers, wouldnt be too hard as they could be fitted inline to the hose fitting i guess?
or on most cockers they could be fitted to the front block

all max lps max flos should have these, cos as u say, over 250 psi and *pop* goes your solenoid:(

Isn't that what that vent on the side of an angel air does?
it vents if the outgoing pressure gets too high.

Well, I know that many preset tanks when fully filled can have an output as high as 1,100 psi when it's set to 850 psi. So yes, there are tanks that will put out a pressure much higher than 900.
One problem which may not be able to be taken in to account with hoses and fittings is the spiking issue on faulty air systems.

I know I had this 3 times in Toulouse from the same system, each time it was taken back to official techs to be resolved. As I shot the gun the output pressure shot up to maximum, but what is to say this is not 1500, 2000, 2500 output pressure, just because the gauge is at its maximum reading does this mean it is accurate?
