A must read - PA rule change for the 2005 season

right let me give my 2 cents worth, so before i was able to run down the field mug someone and put about 4-5 shots into him. But now with the possibility of having cheats I will be able to double that quite easily, bad idea and there are gonna be alot of pissed people. Plus i am in no mood really to have to send my gun in everytime to have the software changed for different events.

Well, if this rule goes ahead, It has already been said that the ramping cannot start until about 10bps. As ramp chips and software (such as the Tadao Mushashi) stop ramping at about half a second after you finish a firing string, then reverts back to semi mode, surely people will be able to 'triple tap' their target?

We are not talking about NXL full auto here, If you want to shoot slow, you still can, that is assuming that appropriate (and legal)software is installed onto the gun.

It's all down to the guy behind the trigger.

The same argument that was raised against semi's by pump users when they first appeared and also the same argument raised in objection to electro's competing against mecanical trigger systems... and yet what do we have today?

ive heard Nordic series are doing a similar thing and also heard quite a few teams have turned around in protest saying they will no play the event unless they get rid of that stoooopid rule!!
Surely the definition of a "stupid" rule is one that can not be enforced or policed. The proposed change is a practical approach to resolving an issue which is fast making a joke out the existing ruling.

Of course we could just stick our heads in the sand and pretend it's not happening already.

i totally understand that the bounce and ramp situation has become very hard to police, but there must be other ways!
Suggest them. Please.

i actually think shoosting fast is a skill of the game, if ure gonna be using these expensive gadgets to bring in this stupid rule, why not jsut use a robot to check every gat to make sure its squeaky clean (to human movement)
Because a robot can not possibly detect every variation possible to activate "cheat" modes. even if you run every gun through a 30 minute cycle of testing before every single game.

ive heard peeps say to me "oh it will make the game faster and easier to watch" but i remember another post on paint that said it would be impossible to run thru such speeds of 15bps strings of paint coming at ya, so what does that mean, 7 v 7 and all hiding behind the back centre bunker cos they cant move out otherwise u will almost certainly get shot.. gee we gonna have a whale of a time!
Strange then that some of the top players in the world competed in some of the fastest most agressive paintball last year with 15 bps at full auto. I don't recall seeing any of those guys cowering behind a bunker...

If you can't fire a marker at 15bps manually you should't have a marker that does it for you.... Personally, I think the rule sucks.. With no disrespect to any teams in particular, there are already enough teams in the PA that choose to sit behind their bunkers with 10 pots and shoot paint until the judge calls time, this is just gonna cause even more of this.
And another point, how many times do you see players getting pulled for over kill for a mere 5 shots and players moaning "Overkill, overkill", so now you have people mugging people with bouncy guns?
Will be funny to watch though...

Just my 2 pennies worth...

Can we get a poll put up on this thread somehow? with options For or against the new rule? would be nice to see how many people support it.

Firing 15bps+ with fingers (no aids) = fine?
Firing up to 15bps (with aids) = fine?
Firing 15bps+ (with aids) = illegal?
Is that not discriminatory against tha HIV Positive comunity?

I am available for weddings, funerals, barmitzvahs...

Seriously though, I thought y'all's laws prohibited guns that ain't strictly semi? What changed?

Not quite:

Firing upto 15bps with fingers (no aids) = Fine
Firing upto 15bps (with aids) = Fine
Firing 15bps+ with fingers (no aids) = Illegal
Firing 15bps+ (with aids) = Illegal

Hope that helps

And regardles of whether I support the rule you can't use that arguement with the PA.

The average standard of play in the PA is leagues behind guys knowing how and why to move against such fast guns, the majority of teams in the PA will be cowering behind their bunkers not knowing WTF to do.

Plus its a different format. Xball means if you get shot to hell running a corner you clean up and go back in again. People will be mighty pissed to play a PA just to get shot to hell each game and play like 1min total.

Faster games in Xball is a good thing, exciting and more games played in total. If you end up with faster games in PA 7man you will pi$$ as least some of your target market off and it'll be even harder for spectators to follow a train crash 7 man game, will look far too much like game of chance.

I think those are good points Beaker.

However, I can't help feeling that actually not much will change from a players point of view.

I still think that people will play pretty much the same. Crap players will still be crap, and good players will still be good.

I guess time and Home Office approval are the only things that will reveal the true answer.
