with refs common sense, should never come in to it :D. Its not my call as to common sense of a ref, but think about this. You get tagged in an open pack flap. You havnt heard it, didnt feel it, refs havnt seen it, your the last man in, hang the flag, you get 1-4-1'd for something that is completely out of your hands and the refs havnt done a thing about it all game. Should common sense prevail?
In that situation you should be 141d. Without a doubt :| You've been running around the field when you should have been in the deadbox. Thats what the 141 rule's all about lol

No the player should be 141ed hes playing with a hit and if hes the last man in then he must have taken the last player on the other team but he had a hit and as you cant clean a player and put him back in a 141 should be called so that an automatic flag hang for insuficiant bodies on the field .... I think

So the result should be fair and accurat

But you never knew you should be in the dead box, you havnt been given a chance to pull yourself out, and the marshalls havnt pulled you out.
Yeah, thats fine. Think about it from the other team's point of view? They've just been beaten in a narrow game, only to see that the guy whos hung the flag has a hit on his pack and the refs just wipe him down?

The 141 rule clearly states that any hit on a player who has played on is an infraction and should receive a penalty...

The logic behind the "new" Millennium 141 rule was not to punish a player for playing on (as with no self check zone, it would be easy to do so without realising, ie pack hits etc) it was to redress the inbalance in the game caused by that player staying in when he should have been out, regardless of whether he shoots anyone after that point or not.

I havnt got problem either way, but you do know what your basically asking for is every single shot, that is anywhere is 1-4-1'd. If this is the case a ref could pull at least 1 per game if not, nearly wipe out the whole team in one foul swoop. But then you would complain about that aswell.

I think the key is that every field and every ref works to the same rules, I had one last month where I got 141'd for a hit on the toggle at the bottom of my trousers, probably wasn't even a hit more likely a ball I stood on, but then on another field a guy hangs the flag against us with a hit on his shoulder that we'd been shouting about all game and doesn't get 141'd.

The annoying thing for players is inconsistency, pick one rule and stick to it and there would be less to moan about. :)

Its happened to me, I normally play myself, but unfortunately, whatever stance is taken concerning the rules, it will never be the same from marshall to marshall. The refs are not robots, some will call the 1-4-1's, some are soft, some are new and wont, I havnt got a problem calling them at all, anybody who knows me, knows this, but continuity through 25 refs is niegh on impossible.

now all we need is 25 refs cloned from james, jon and mars bar and all will be sorted. I've left doctor evil a answer phone message ;) :D
