You suggested it wasn´t a dead mans walk since he didn´t have a hand on his head - that is why I wrote it can actually never be a dead mans walk in case you have already put your hand on your head, since that according to rules is equal to calling yourself out!

So - "walking around the field" as you wrote kinda IS exactly what Mario implied = a dead mans walk! ;)

I dont think I really understand what you're saying :eek:

Are you saying that its against the rules to walk around the field? Ie. I'm playing back corner. Decide to go to back centre. i DONT put my hand on my head or indicate I've been shot in any way, and simply walk, head down to the back centre. Is that a deadman's walk? :confused:

Okay first off - who would EVER do that? Seems pretty stupid to me using that as an example...;)

But anyway - of course you can walk around the field as you please - but you can´t walk around the field looking like a dead player.... One of the reasons dead mans walk got forbitten (to my knowledge?!) was people being shot up like HELL doing it... So sure - do as you suggest and let´s see if you get shot at or not? And lets see how far you will get still being a live player hehe...

So basically - I would actually say no you can´t walk around as you please - cause either you will get shot up by players "just making sure" OR the marshall will pull you for dead mans walk - how should/could the marshall decide in his own mind IF you intented to look "dead" or not?

In the case we are actually discussing now the player DID act like a "dead man" - cause he thought he was!!!! ;)

Just because a foul is not deliberate doesn't mean you shouldn't receive a penalty for it. If you are playing with a hit, known or otherwise, your team has gained an advantage - having a player on the field that they shouldn't have had. That advantage needs to counter-balanced, by applying a penalty.
