Hello All

I have been in paintball since the mid 80s seen it all done most I run a site and like to make sure the industry gets as many grass roots players as possible.

I am not a mate of Tims or Andy Sables or Pete although I have met them all I just think this can be solved as far as the venue is concerned.

I have no vested interest in this argument at all and no axe to grind, I do have some good connections through friends in the armed forces ex and still serving, to this end I made one phone call after hearing about this thread to find out if Sennybridge was due to stage a Paintball event.

Fact is anyone can call Sennybridge they have a listed number under defence estates and you can ask about the use of defence property they wont tell you about any excercises but will answer genuine questions as a rule.

I called a mate serving Army he made a quick call and spoke to the Commandant at Sennybridge who confirmed that Shoreline had booked the site for the said weekend in question and he also said that due to last minute training need being scheduled the base was no longer able to be used. He also said that the MOD gave Shoreline good notice that it would have to move to another date,he did not say how much notice just good notice.

So its fair to say that the event was booked and as to the rest refunds etc thats a different subject, dont bombard me with questions as I dont have specific answers just what I have said here.

Loz

I don't think there is any real doubt over whether it was booked or not but thankyou for your contribution.

I believe the gripe is over the refund. I can see both sides, Sennybridge is a completely unique EXPERIENCE and that's what people were flying in from across the globe for and it's what the major selling point for the event was. The EXPERIENCE. Holmsbush by all accounts is an excellent, even outstanding venue but it's not the same experience that people were expecting, it's a bit more hassle travel wise for some people.

I'm sure it will still be an excellent event, I'd say it's more down to the fact that a crowd of people with a common interest getting together in one place.

The MOD give 6 weeks notice to any private bookings of there sites. Mr Shoreline gave us 3 weeks notice. I want to know at what point was he given the notice. Hence the request for documentation . If he sat on it for 3 weeks then his statement he sorted a new site in 48 hrs is a lie

So why didn't you say that in your very first post instead of vague insinuations about lies being told, if you had simply said what you were accusing them of in the first place you may have got far fewer peoples backs up and less hostile reactions.

I'm sorry bod, my lack of explaining the English language to you must have caused you to think I was being vague. However are you satisfied I have explained myself to you enough for you to understand what the majority of this thread understood. If you required more detailed information the you were invited to private message me. Instead you chose to voice yourself in a public forum

Let me see if I understand this correctly.
You start a thread on an open and public forum regarding a grievance of yours, and you supply an apparently edited amount of evidence.
Yet parties not directly involved who feel free to pass comment on this selective evidence, using the same forum, are politely asked to stfu.
Your lack of explaining the English language has obviously infected your lack of understanding it.
You do know the meaning of 'forum' don't you?

What are you on about??

There's no withholding of anything or editing as far as I can see.

the original post when you break it down simply says he's asked for a refund and to see insurance/licences or whatever, both were refused. And by the way, any paying customer is quite within their rights to ask to see insurance documents. I run a martial arts club and a paintball site and get asked for proof of insurance on a regular basis which i have no problem providing to legitimate requests.

He's now added extra information. Where's the editing?

I guess you either agree with Simon or you don't. Next person to start throwing insults about will get the thread locked and a ban slapped on their account.

Coalthief, listen up and take heed lest your appearances here are gonna be confined to your memory.
This is a public form in the same way we have public houses where people go for a drink. And as in those public houses, the management reserve the right to tell you to 'fuhk off'.
The management in our case are my mods, i lurk in the background as owner and i also reserve the right to fuhk you off out of it, if i feel the need.
You do not possess the gravitas, intellect or experience to say one damned thing about our forum in any critical sense and if you don't like it, then the solution is simple and you can save me the effort of relinquishing any ties you have with p8ntballer.com.
And so, keep your smarty-ass comments to yourself, don't diss my mods and you'll be fine ...... Understand?

Like many I have been watching the appropriate threads and choosing not to get involved

Ill now put in a couple of comments

I am employed by the mod in the organisation that is involved in the private use of mod land. In fact it is the DIO and Defence Estates no longer exists. However it is the estates element that covers use of the land. I therefore don't know any details

6 weeks notice may be a standard, however training areas are allocated with at least 6 months notice, more often a year or more
The DE used to hire out land and since the inception of the DIO and the government being skint business has been heavily sought as a valuable income. I may not be directly involved in estates but I am the person who has been authorising payment of the electricity bills for many years - it's not been my job for almost 2 years, but I'm still the man signing the dotted line. It costs an absolute fortune to be sat there doing nothing
The site was free and is no longer free. Knowledge of the 6 week period, or the 6 month+ period are not indicators of how much notice was given. The key element of the issue is refunds. Notice will be a relevant element if things were to go to court, on the thread it is just likely to bring another tangent away from the key issue

The dio is at this moment going through a 100% restructuring. People are out of jobs, people are being moved around the country, people are just quitting, notice is most likely to have been how much time there was between the game date and the requirement being identified for use of the training area. It could also be that no-one is doing that job in the dio and somebody running around doing multiple jobs. This is just supposition, and could just lead to another tangent
