An announcement about European Nations Cup X-ball coming shortly...

...sometime in the next few days before I leave for LA. I should have the schedule, list of invited teams, rules, guidelines and a few other details.

As Magued said, this is a test of X-ball in Europe for fun and media-exposure purposes. We are already looking toward incredible developments for 2004, but we intend to make our events this year every bit as professional and dynamic as our sister league NXL in the USA.

Expect much more information by Monday (I hope before).

Steve, no attack on you, but something is puzzling me.
You say that the Euro X-ball thing is the sister to the NXL. The Euro X-ball has to piggy back with the Millennium Series for it's infrastructure. Yet at the same time, the NXL forbids it's players to compete in the Millennium Series, and Millennium have sort of thrown in their lot with the NPPL S7....
What's the deal? Who is Millennium in cahoots with? Or are we as Europeans trying to be friends with everybody?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for exciting developments, but I would also like for us to make up our minds, and say: "that's what we're going with". Even if it means pissing off this US league, or that US league...

Buddha-dont ya think it might be smart of the Millennium to be nice to both partys till we find which works out..I mean, theres alot of what ifs right now with both X and S7 so why step on anyones shoes before anythings finalized yet..If X flops, then they have S7..If S7 doesnt work, then they will look like a genius for sticking with X..Seems like they cant lose in that situation or am I just talking $hit again??:D

That’s going by weakness not by strength...left, right and back again.
One thing i know for sure; the way things are going now you need a
f@ckin miracle to make some people look like a genius, if now or in
a year...
Maybe we just need some character on the promotor side of things,
things like a vision of how things should be would be handy, i'll bet
Richmond or Laurent has one, sure as hell Mr.Green of WDP has one,
we need more character without it things will not progress, as long as
the majority of keyplayers are in it for the money (no vision)things willl
deteriorate or at least will not progress...
Without an vision you can't plot a course and that in the end will hurt
this game...guess who i'm gonna vote for ; )

Anyway sorry if it doesn't make any sense, it's late and i'm goin to bed...goodnight

Well, yes and no. There's a difference between trying to have your cake and eat it, too, and being prudently politic.
In the past the Mil Series has been open to anyone wanting to compete and there is an obvious and logical tie to make with another 7-man series that more or less adopts your existing rulebook whole. And does nothing to exclude anyone.
The situation revolving around Euro ball and X is something completely different and has darn little to do with uniting the pb world or concern over alienating teams or players.

The metaphor I use to understand is this:

My best friend and I have very similar businesses. We are in different markets and have no arena where we really compete. I go visit him and help out in busy times, he comes and helps me when I am busy. Our employees visit each other and can make a little cash to make the trip more affordable. It is in our best mutual interests to keep operating procedures as similar as can be, so that the cross-over still assists both of us. So I remain conversant in X-ball, although I might not have done it if not for him, and he does 7-man, although if it weren't for me he would do 10-man.

Millenium acts like my friend and I, staying conversant in all current modes of play. The US, as is so often the case, does whatever it wants to.

I don't see it as trying to play both sides, I see it as a balanced approach. Millenium may be willy-nilly, but it is a wild ride they are trying to hold on for. This year will be one to remember.
