You are so right but still, if we where to have time to prepare that would be nice.

I only see 2-3 teams that have enough players to make a complete squad. The rest of the teams need time to seek out new players, and a little time to train would be nice :)

But i c what you meen.

I would assume the "powers that be" listen to your oppinions on X-ball in Europe, and as such would like to know what you are recommending ?

Thanks

Nick,

I'm sure that the Millennium board members listen to me to some extent but, as Robbo points out, there are people and institutions far higher up in the food chain that will decide what happens.

For what it's worth, I have already expressed what I think is best:
a full-blown EXL with 6-8 super pro teams and an open X Ball division at every Mill tournament.

As for the details: we can only speculate and try to formulate what we (all of us involved) think would be best.

I too hope that matters are firmed up pretty soon because I have to look at how it may impact my life next year.

Some ideas about how it might work...

Let's say we leave two places open to the NXL for every event. The points would count in NXL and would be available, say, 2 times only during the season. And would be strictly first-come, first-serve. And the same deal would go for EXL in America.

If the American teams thought it might be fun and easy points to come to Europe then we would get a chance to match wits with them and learn the way everyone knows is best, by playing seriously against better teams. I have seen pupils become the masters many times in paintball.

And the top Euro teams, especially those well-financed, could go to a tournament or two over there.

I think this scenario could work and be mutually beneficial for both leagues and for the sport as a whole.

And I don't think the TV deal has to be clinched before we could move forward with this.

But I could be wrong.

Question: How many events do we really need to have over here (or over there, for that matter)? Is it better with 6, or is maybe 4 enough?

Steve

PS. To further guarantee that 8 competitive teams play we could have a waiting list of teams from outside NXL or EXL for the two slots.

Steve, unless I am very mistaken, isn't this pretty much what had already been agreed last year when Laurent, Sergei and myself all sat down with Richmond in Orlando?

As for any Euro teams making the trip Stateside, ok in theory, but only a select few are gonna be able to afford it.
I mean, if you have any serious aspirations for wining the EXL, then you are gonna hardly travel Stateside looking for points when you could come by them a lot easier by staying in the EXL.

If one EXL team plays in the US, then all have to go; reserved places in each league for their respective counterparts can't be optional because this would lead to an anarchic situation with no stability or inherent fairness.

Order has to be imposed upon on both leagues and not some arbitary mandate allowing this team and that to come and go pretty much as they please.

With rosters having to be increased, training having to be increased, the paint bills are gonna sky rocket no matter what others might say about X-Ball not really adding that much to the pocket.
Significant investment has to be made this side of the water if this is gona get off the ground in any coherent form.

If we try to do it any other way, we will be a laughing stock again.

 good to hear that we (Polish) are taken in considiration. As for somebodies question asked bevore there is one team that travels thru all the millennium series namely Chillout, and Poland has 3 teams on most millennium events. Of course we do not have any team in AM A but we surely can team up the best players from PL to make a squad worth trying. If the EXL stayes country based you should let in as many as possieble. If you want a strong European X Ball you should as everbody says base only on strongest teams. Just my point ...

If it will be ,as you say Robbo, team based, than maybe i'm not patriotic or anything but we dont have anything to look in xball for at least 1-2 more years. Nexus , Ton Tons , Russian Legion, Ugly Ducklings, Mayhem Tigers, Joy Division, HardCore would be my bet ))
maybe div 1 xball would be a sollution :p

Actually....

My argument was to DO divisional X-ball in Europe next year, to allow for a greater influx of teams and nations into X-ball.

Otherwise the EXL will just be this strange appendix to the Millennium Series, in a different format, and something no other teams can aspire to play.

Nick
Thanks that you mentioned us in xball anyway...
yes that is a good route to go to allow more nations in xball but i would prefer a strong euro xball teams based, so we can one day be anywhere close compeating to the US. If there will be div 1 or div 2 xball we would be of course interested. What the portugese have shown in France is that they can get their s*** together. Respects for that. Maybe i understood you wrong Nick what exactly do you mean by divisional xbal ?
