Robbo,

any inside info on what the mighty legion are up to, are they going to america and leaving a space for another team or are they staying euro side with the promise of two yank teams appeasing their appitite.

As soon as Sergei makes his mind up, I will let ya know.
I think his involvement will be pivotal in some team's decisions to take up any EXL option........I think in all honesty, if the EXL were to be a wholly European affair, then they would not consider it.

If two Yank teams REALLY are going to come across for each round then the EXL needs some serious consideration.

Even then, it's not a done deal, considering at present, prize money isn't given, squads will have to be extended, cost of entry, teams will have to concentrate 100% on X-Ball and not play Millennium if they are SERIOUS about playing and so on....

The only way I can see this working in any serious manner is....the much vaunted TV deal HAS to be in place before the start of the next season or at least hard and fast proof it is imminent.

Everything can then feed off this....and you'd be surprised just how fast things fall rapidly into place once green paper thingys start flapping in people's faces

Come to think of it...why don't we ask Waddidiz what the score is...come on Steve, you are apparently the man running the show.

The proposals must be known and therefore :-

Who are the teams who will be invited ?

Cost of entry per team ?

Has the TV deal been done, if not, what's happenin with it ?

Has the NXL agreed to sending their francise teams to the Millennium EXL?

Will there be divisional X-Ball ?

If TV is part of the equatoin, what cut do the promoters / franchise owners and teams get ?

Is there going to be any prize money, if so, how much ?

With the new season not that far away, it might well be good timing for everybody to know what's on the table.

Hey, I'm still the new kid on the block. Am I gonna be on the inside of decisions that haven't yet been made? Pete, when I spoke with you in Toulouse I had heard some interesting
discussions and proposals from various people, but no decisions.

I'll try to answer your questions in typical bovine style and it will confirm what you've alluded to before: I know nothing.

1. I just help put together the Nations Cup X Ball show and run the games. I don't yet do a lot of high-level decision making.

2. Your guess is probably better than mine. I don't know much at all about the money-sponsorship politics in the various teams but I have a kind-of blind faith that money will chase the top teams if this thing gets a giddy-up.

3. A detail that will come after some of the bigger issues get worked out. What do you think is reasonable? Right, of course it depends on the whole package.

4. I've heard that the deal is a definite reality (kinda like WMD?) from very reliable sources, people who I expect would not consciously lie. Maybe the release of the details have to be held under wraps for a while. Maybe the details are still being hashed out. What do your sources say?

5. I don't think NXL will force any team to come over. See answer 3. How do you think this should be reasonably handled?

6. The division X Ball thingy is another matter I certainly can't decide myself. I personally believe it would only be logical to do it that way. We've got to let peeps try it out and have a chance to get into the big league if they cut the mustard. What's your opinion on this?

7. See answer 3, although this may be an issue that will be among the major, formulaic ones. Whadda you think?

8. See answer 3. What do you think?

9. I totally agree with you and I am pushing for something concrete to be worked out sooner rather than later, so as to avoid the half-baked nature of the way things began this season.

I'm not trying to frustrate you or anyone. I believe several interesting things will develop in the world concerning X Ball and that it will be much better in Europe for Season 2004.

I sincerely would like your answers and ideas because these discussions could be very helpful to the decision-making process that is on-going.

What i have talked with cyclone guys they are very intrested of playing EXL.

It would be nice to know IF the EXL will come (hope so) how they will choce the teams to play and what will be number of teams.

What i have read, i don't like that there will be teams from usa playing EUROPIAN xball league, somekind of x-ball worldcup would be nice tho.

And how i would like to see it run is like PSP, so same time with millennium in one field 3 days you could get good amount of games.

Reffing is the one prob. too what i talked with steve, have you get forward on this?

Hope we will hear soon about EXL!

I would assume the "powers that be" listen to your oppinions on X-ball in Europe, and as such would like to know what you are recommending ?
Thanks
Nick

If TV comes along, the 'powers that be' are gonna do what they are told........and will be more than pleased to oblige :)

Aside being a sandbagger team that will win the Am B division, Wombles are playing real good ball and by the end of the season I believe they have a chance against anyone.
Also it’s a German Team, and you need diversity if you want a EXL and not a “usual suspects” club.

More ashes: I don’t think there should be two (or more) English teams at the EXL.
One Team per country. England, France, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, German and…Poland or Finland, Portugal or Spain.

Cheers

Steve, at this stage, leastwise from my corner, it's all about any prospective teams being told the EXL is part of the income stream enjoyed by the NXL i.e. the TV deal has been done and here are the important points ....

Anything less at this stage is just pie in the sky and not worth considering.

All this faffing around is academic, unless TV is involved, the house of cards is gonna come tumbling down and any serious minded team ain't gonna bother, coz the investors, as it stands now, cannot in my opinion afford X-Ball without TV.

One thing is for sure, they (organisation) need to get the show on the road.

The team's chosen need time to prepare for next season, pick up more players, train and so on.

If not, the yanks are going to be roling over the european teams for the first rounds due to the full season they have had this year.

So lets get the ball roling :)

Kim, make no mistake about this, the Yanks will be rolling over all us Euros all season with the exception of the Russian Legion (if they do elect to join the EXL) they already have a one year start and are playing in a standard (NXL) we couldn't hope to match.

As for your recommendations with regard to getting people's ass into gear so the Euro teams can start to prepare, this is correct but you have to remember the dynamics here.

The people over here are not that worried about any Euro team's preparedness, if TV does come along, they are more concerned with consolidating income streams.
I ain't got no problem with that in principle as long as any league that is set up allows cheap entry, allows franchise ownership to be fair in terms of cost and any subsequent incomes to be shared equitably.

But alas, the chronology of events is determined by ongoing Stateside negotiations with TV.
We can talk all we like over here about this, that and whatever but bottom line here is money, and that consideration, in my opinion, is solely dependant upon the uptake of a World Series X-Ball by TV.

We wait.......
