Okay, so TJ beat me to it. I do think that finances will restrict many, if not all, of the X-ball teams from attending much else. As much as some people may stand in awe at the corporate majesty of some paintball companies, it still ain't sh*t compared to the real world. I just doubt that the money will be there to send squads to all events, X-ball and other. So it'll one or the other.

Baca, Wolverines? Bwahahahahahahaaa!
I played them once by the way...

X-Ballers will only play X-Ball

Rancid, cheer up, Europe is safe for awhile even if this works as I'm not sure same conditions exist over there. And, reserve final judgement for, say, three to six, months on issues of revenue and accessibility.
:D
Ok, Baca fair enough. ;)

You see the biggest gap in my understanding is just how much money tv will bring in. In the UK, I know it'll be **** all. But if you're telling me that some US cable company will pay $80,000,000 a year to broadcast paintball, then I must concede defeat - and I'd be more than happy to do this, cos I know my cup will runneth over also.

BUT, all these debates we've read and heard over the last few months about franchises and which teams and tv coverage etc demonstrate little other than appetite.

No one (unless I've missed it) has brought hard facts to the table.
ie Channel x pays y amount for broadcasting z skateboard event. The ad revenue brought in by this event was a, and the particpants/sponsors received b. Now, this info is out there, cos as someone said earlier 'people are putting down their chips without seeing their cards' and no one would do that on a hunch and a 'feeling abroad'.

Either way, Europe must forget the US and start baking its own pie.

(I've gone metaphor mad today.)

No one likely to pay $80,000,000 anytime soon but what virtually any network is likely to be willing to do is find a place for programming it knows it will sell ad spots for. Early on the issues are committments from a core group of advertisers followed by some agreement as to quality of production, time slots, potential for control of broadcasts over the longer term, etc.
Here's a couple of extremes for you--ESPN broadcasts a flyfishing show because it's well done, not an embarrassment to the network to put on, and more importantly because alot of companies in the fishing gear business advertise during the show. I would hazard the guess that the number of p-ballers and flyfishers are similar so you have a potential formula for basic TV.
At the other end of the spectrum NBC was so desperate to get football back on it's network it fronted the XFL somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 million dollars.
My only point is that even if p-ball at this stage only manages the ground floor of television it's a start and then the issue becomes how much interest can be generated by the game itself over time. And that is something nobody knows yet.
(I gotta think though p-ball could be at least as popular as Arena Football) :)

A word of caution...

Web board gossip is just that.

No one here knows anything, because no one who really knows tells people who are going to go post it on web forums.

Then you should know our choice of beer is quite limited here in the states..Between Bud,Corona,Heineken,Coors, and Amstel you would pick Amstel 2...But then again I liked Freddie got Fingered,Jeepers Creepers, and Kung Pow Enter The Fist so maybe my brilliant choices arent in the norm:confused:
