Planet Piper away from you freaks!
Dude
think you will find Robbo found this out last night. If I know Robbo then he had to work to get this information, which means amounts have not been spoken about. It won't take long for someone to say something about amounts.

And do you honestly think you will see a signed contract for all we know the players may not be able to say how much they get! You know how yanks are!

I for one do think it is all true it is why Robbo wanted the EXL this year so we would not be in this position.

So over to you big man!

I understand what you're saying Andy, I really do, but we've seen many things X-Ball related that were supposed to happen and didn't.

I kinda figured he found out late last night by the shortness of his first post... very unlike him to type so little over such big news ;)

Amounts must have been discussed somewhere, whether with him or not, or the "paided enough to play full time" comment would be totally groundless... again, not his style.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens to EXL now.. some would ask if there is any point other than purely to be "playing the way they play"?

We seem to be running around in circles trying to keep up with the NXL when maybe we're already, as Robbo says, totally out of the loop.

If we are totally out of it, maybe we should just do out own thing and say stuff X-ball completely..?

Amounts probably have been disscused and I think you will find the "enough to play full time" comment is how shall we say............ keeping there cards close to there chest. Cos they know if they say how much that many players that would have played EXL will be pissed cos they missed the boat... and by no means there fault!

I for one would say stuff XBall... what's the point? I for one cannot see one. No matter how you dress it up it is still a shambles.

Just my 2 cents worth!

I will endeavour to clarify a few points by tonight.
I didn't even ask for the monetary details last night as the conversation was more concerned with the more important aspect of 'actual' uptake by a production company rather than the finer points of monetary allocations.
Oh, and I didn't have to work hard to get this information, it came out in normal conversation :)

As far as I have been to led to believe, a considerable amount of monies has been allocated to the NXL that will facilitate all the franchise owners having a big smile on their faces and players getting paid to play.

These details weren't held back because of any consideration for any Euro ballers being pissed off, they just haven't been let out, that's all, a matter of timing rather than design.

This production company has bought the rights to X-ball and is headed by a guy called Dick Clark who is some sort of TV personality and entrepreneur over there in the US.
Basically, he has bought the product (X-Ball) for 'X' millions and will package and sell on at his discretion....that's basically the deal.
So, the sole source of income for the league is the monies paid, or is being paid over by this guy's company.

There are huge efforts being made to get it up and running by start of next year but in reality, it is more likely to begin year 2005.

Dick Clark has been a fixture on TV and in television productions since the 60's. He does business with all the major networks though, if I recall correctly--and I am by no means a Dick Clark expert:rolleyes: , most of his productions appear on ABC or affiliated networks--which now includes the ESPN family and two or three other cable outlets.
If his production company is jumping on X-Ball they have the history and the connections to make it work.

Sorry to hear about your guys dilema, but if what you say is true, and I dont have any reason not to,then this is pretty awesome for us here state side in regards to having paintball played on TV and the possibilty that you can be a paid superstar for playing ball..

But im wondering what this huge deal does for teams like Dynasty,Strange,Dogs, etc that dont have franchises??Im assuming that the original franchise fee would be like peanuts compared to what would be charged next year or the year after to get in on this..Whoever gets Dynasty though is gonna be raking in some serious dough..Those kids could be marketed and sold as easily as McDonalds is:)

And some of those teams gotta be kicking themselves in the ass right now while Detroit Thunder(no disrepect intended) is about to go big time..

Anyone see a massive influx of top Pros not playing X-Ball right now moving thier way over to NXL teams??

Dick Clark.. the Times Square and American Bandstand guy?

Interesting...

If all the money for X-Ball is coming from his production company this would suggest to me that he will have a certain amount of control in how X-Ball develops.

He is, at the end of the day, putting money into a unproven market in terms of audience take up and if he's shrewd enough to have amassed millions of dollars he's going to want a get out clause if it doesn't take off, and/or the facility to bail out after the first year, and/or the ability to influence the way the game is played to make it more "viewer" orientated.

Infact having just gone and had a search for Dick Clark on google his company seems to specialise in awards ceremonies, specials and a couple of long running series (Bloopers, Beyond Belief:Fact or Fiction).

This may well "kill or cure" X-Ball as a televised event. If he can't make it work it may well be years before any other production company/network tries again...

Actually, will anyone who current plays X-Ball want to/be able to afford to continue playing it if the chance of TV is killed off for a few years....??

Robbo, the king of the understatment...

That is kinda like saying the Pope is some kind of priest :)

Dick Clark is one of the "big boys" when it comes to t.v. show production - his production companys credits include: American Bandstand (from wayyyyy back up to the present), Dick Clarks New Years Rockin' Eve, the Golden Globe Awards, American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, Daytime Emmy Awards, The Family Television Awards, Bloopers (23 years), American Bandstand 50th Anniversary, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction.

It will be interesting to see what he has in store for the NXL ...

As far as the EXL goes... the shortsighted man usually doesn't see the brick wall until he runs straight into it.
