Just so everyone doesn't think we're all blooming idiots, I just had it confirmed by Mike Ratko (the NXL commissioner) that the new scoreboard AND control panel were supposed to be 220 V, as he informed me, rather than 117. The manufacturer shipped us the wrong control panel! Therefore we shouldn't be hung out for plugging it into the wrong voltage.

What a comedy of errors!

Concerning the consistency issue: we're on top of it. At the next event I'm getting there early, everything will be set up perfectly and we'll be able to concentrate on doing things better. Coaching from the ends will not be a problem because there will be black sheeting on each end like there should have been in Paris.

allow people to watch from the back of the field, (cause it's hard enough to see what's going on when a big game is on), but move the netting back 15 feet, to make it very hard for people to coach.

I appreciate the suggestion, Colin, but all spectating and coaching will take place from the spectator side of the field, behind the coaches.

that's cool then,
if i may make another suggestion then, the seating needs to be raised up so players can see over the mini-cans in the center. Otherwise the other side of the field is totally obscured, and a lot of action happens on the t-bag side...
thanks :D

I think you'll find the stands (bleachers to you Yanks) were more an emergent property of the promoter guessing the numbers who would want to spectate rather than any Millennium policy or design.
Bearing in mind the depleted number of teams present at this event, we were never gonna be flanked by Man Utd style seating.

x-ball is supposed to be about the spectators right?
you're right on there pete, the promoters often just put in the minimum amount of seating so they can say that it's there...
should be better at Campaign cup, that's for sure, and Toullouse too i'd imagine :D

Also a nice little touch would be to have the seating close to the netting to stop spectators standing in the gap and therefore in the bloody way. I was a crack shot with a piece of mud from boots by the end of the weekend!

there's a required distance from the field edge to stands according to the X-ball setup guidelines.
6 meters or something like that.
