Regarding air! - I could have shown up on site with a bottle DOT 30 years out of test, and flashed filled it NO problem.

It was madness.

The field were clay, making diving impossible or very dangerous - even the best divers in the game where having to hit the floor with their knee's first!

What they said. I must say the judging was probably the best aspect of the tournament -- we experienced a few very questionable calls, both for and against us, but overall the standard was not bad in my view. Everything else was pretty shoddy. Having been led to believe the tournament would be held in a prime location within view of the passing public, it was actually out of the back of Disney Village, across 2 cark parks and a dual carriageway.

All in all, the standard of the event dragged down the Millennium Series' good name for many reasons.

p.s. We also found that few of the venues listed in the information and on the posters were willing to honour the discounts that Camp had supposedly negotiated for us -- this included several of the restaurants as well as the Disney park itself.

On the plus side, kids were pointing at us as we walked through the Disney Village, shouting excitedly to their parents "Paintballers! Paintballers!" and on one occasion, we caught someone taking a cheeky photo of us as we walked through Disneyland... I can certainly deal with that kind of attention on a more frequent basis :D:D:D

The judging for the EXL was pretty good but a lot of work needs to be done if they are to be consistent both in terms of interpretation of some of the rules and implementation.
The problem with XBall is this (I wasn't prepared for this aspect at all I hasten to add) the pressure is immense for both judge and player and coach.
With only two mins between each games, it just doesn't give enough time for coaches or players to really get their act together if the sh!t starts hitting the fan regarding performances or on-field problems.
As I mentioned in another post on another thread, I had to desert my team half way through the Tigers game because I just don't possess the temperament to handle all that cr@p and I ended up being more of a hindrance to my team than a help.
Also, the EXL cannot be held hostage to the vagaries of promoters outside of the Millennium, this was not a Millennium partner event, it was a Millennium sanctioned event.
I think the Millennium Board from now on need to have a more hands on approach if the EXL is to survive these type events and pressures and with so much at stake for teams and promoters, I think the Millennium will respond.
After all, with contracts all signed up, there is a contractual responsibility to the teams that has to be upheld, we have all invested so much time and money into this enterprise, contractual standards HAVE to be adhered to.
I think Steve Morris did a good job under the circumstances and all I hope is this, as a team owner and coach, I have a shed load to learn, all the players have to learn a lot, the same should go for the judges and promoters.
If we all have a willingness to learn from this event, then the future looks brighter.
Scoreboards have to have spares and someone who knows what to do when it goes wrong.
Scoreboards have to be tried and tested long before they are switched on for the event itself.
Judges must be told to direct the sideline coaches to only talk to their players and not to try and influence judges, if they do, warn them once, if they do it twice, they are banned, simple as that.
