SOME might say that at SOME point, the top Am A would be more deserving than a low ranking Pro..... but where that cut off point is, is not for me to say !

(tongue FIRMLY in cheek here)

Duffy:

They are ALREADY running it with 10 - when you include the two US teams at each event - and my point then is, that 12 works better in the double elimination scheme.

Gaff:

Try looking at Warpig or Paintball.com - or similar, for the scoresheets from Division 1 X-Ball - it's the same system.

Why do you guys assume EXL is gonna run like Division 1 when all season long last year NXL ran individual match scores; wins and losses?

Who was debating double elimination?

I refer you to my learned bovine friend's post...

Because each separate event is treated as such - a separate event, with a winner, a 2nd place, and so on.

- We are (to my knowledge) not going to run a round robin over 4 events.

You can't find a winner without running either double elimination or prelim pools.... and the latter is not realistic.

Nick
You're not explaining why the EXL will be operating differently than the NXL. Doesn't make much sense to me particularly if the long range goal is to create an annual "season" of competition culminating in a season ending playoff that determines a champion.
Nor have I seen anything about double elimination except as it pertains to SupaLeague which should be renamed GhostLeague cus that's who's gonna be playing it.

I think we should cap it at 8 with no US team involvement whatsoever...end of.

I would much rather hack off two Yank teams than add on another two Euros if symmetry and ease of play is all we are after here.
Now, we have to make our minds up, we either get serious and try to do things professionally or we just don't bother with it at all.
There are some difficult decisions being made here that benefits some teams and not others, the biggest casualty in my opinion being Hardcore, as they should be in if quality of play alone was the prime determinant.

I do believe however, we are going down the right road if a little bumpy.

And just one last point I would like to throw open to any mainland Europeans who read this post, if the number of Euro teams was increased to 10 and Storm were then able to qualify (I don't know this for sure) how would they feel with 4 English teams representing Europe ?

The EXL is gonna be orgainsed differently from the NXL because as far as spectators and players go, a series of games that throws up a tournament winner are much better and more exciting to watch and play in.
I don't believe that aspect of NXL is right at all.
All we are looking to create next year is a situation where XBall is played and the teams can be differentiated at the end of year by the points they have accumulated.
The top four then go to contest the World Series on Orlando at the end of the season.
How we fulfill those two criterion is up to us and if we believe that to hold a tournament style event producing a winner and second place etc rather than a league one, then that is the way we shall go.

Hey Pete

It is not really fair that the UK has 3 teams in Now! I mean I thought Europe went outside the UK but I guess I could be wrong :D

jees guys! this will be rubbish with 10 teams! way too many byes!

it needs to be 8 ideally, 16 second choice or 12 third choice as Nick has pointed out!

any ideas when it will be finalised and all concerned will give the official.... 'this is whats deffinately happening and you are the ones playing?'

oh yeah and.... 'this is where and when you are playing!'

i think that it will work out just fine, as the MS board are fully aware of what they are doing, and have put effort into making this ventrue a long lasting and successful one. It will have the best teams in Europe (bar one) competing, and will be a paintball spectacle. If people want to be cynical, and pick out the negative aspects of the format, then they can do so. I doubt that many of the top teams that are paying the new EXL will have their enthusiasm for it dampened by people saying it wil be rubbish.:)

From speaking to Niall and Beard, the 8 EXL teams have all been approached and all have accepted; the dates I have heard are:

Max Masters - Apr 10-12
DMA June 4-6
Toulouse July 2 - 4th
Campaign - Sept 10 - 12th

Dunno about the rest, trying to get hold of Niall now.
