A Few Good Men.....

Right Ok this is why A few Good Men are entered as Novice.

Went to Germany Millenium won three from 10 in novice league. At that point 2 players left for other teams (joined Method and Ecstasy) 1 semi retired hasn't played since then.

Since last Campaign all but 2 of the A team have left/ retired. If you look at last year results the B team at the time won 1 from 10 in novice league.

4th M25 leg. Lost all 8 games straight. Just after that we booked into campaign.

5th M25 - Mid table

6th M25 - Mid table.

Now admittedly i've only picked up on the worst that has happened to us in the last 12 months and the B team then that now makes up the team is one hell of a lot better. However for most of the team (thats 6 players) this is the 2nd/ 3rd ever millenium. I know that the team name has been around for years and i'd like to think we give most teams a run for there money but we arn't good enough to play AM B. I'd like to and hopefully the way the team has been training the last 3 months we might be able to next year but i'm not paying to be someone's whipping boy in am B when i could play players of my skill level in novice.
Oh and by the way this is not in reference to anyone in particular its jsut that i'm very proud to play with my team and i felt the need to explain our decision. If you don't agree with it then fine that's cool with me.

Anyway enough of defense back to sandbaggers. Anyone else know who the team with 7 ex pros is that are not playing Pro? Go on take a guess!

Cheers

Ken

P.S These are my opinions not that of my team or sponsors.

This is the problem with the names of the sections though, would you say that you and your team are rookie players? not having a dig at you, but as you say there are sandbaggers, and the team with 5 pros in playing Am B would not play am B if it was called novice.

Erm, that might be us...don't think anyone would accuse us of being sandbaggers though.

Personal point of view....

Yes i agree with you. I'd say we are a novice team at the moment not rookie. However when we entered we had just played terribly at M25, and thought that the noivce league offered the best place for us to work out the problems in our game.

I have to say that strictly speaking we could have entered at AM B. But upon seeing the teams in both leagues now i'd say we are closer in skill level to a lot of the teams in novice rather than AM B.

The other deciding factor is as Paul stated the money. Most of the team is skint (myslef included) we would not want to have to pay for the privilage of having competitive matches 3-4 out of 10.

Cheers

I don't know anything about A Few Good Men so this isn't directed at you guys in the slightest, just at the points Milhouse made.

So you are saying there are lots of sandbaggers? (I agree there are, but that's not a reason to do the same... two wrongs don't make a right).

Heck, lets call the 4th division rookie AND make it a little bit more expensive to play in. Then only real rookies will want to play that division and no-one will be left with any excuses as to why they are sandbagging :D

Problem solved?

Geez, you people whine about everything. Sandbagging is a non issue. Really very simple--EVERY team in the Novice category qualifies to play in that category according to the Mil rules and that's the only definition that counts.
Somebody is going to win, get over it.

And Collier's right too. As long as there is both a competitive and financial barrier to moving up some percentage of teams won't as long as they don't have to. So what?

How do you know that? I can think of a few teams in there which I'm not certain do qualify... I'd need to check the rules again and who shows up on the day but I'm not sure what you are saying is true.

Does the Campaign Cup actually check the teams and players for elligibility before booking them into a certain division?
