what is it with non-US teams?

So at the moment US teams are better than us, but i have a plan.
All it takes is a small amount of teamwork and alot of determination.
Heres how it works, next time you go to a big tourney and you see some americans pro team, (just follow the sound of really aweful funk/disco/dance music from the 80's if you have trouble finding any).
Now you have to wait around a bit untill they go off to play and then strike. One person look out while another takes a **** in one of their kitbags.
As a one off this might not have such an impact, but say at British tourneys we must out rank the Yanks 20 to one, so thats 20 lovely steaming 'Rita and Sues' in every kitbag.
After a few tourneys they will get the message and stop turing up, then we can claim that we are better than the Yanks but they are too scared to play us.

NO that is to much like hiding in the shadows.

Over in this side of the world we have to pay twice the price for alot of our kit, loads of us have to work on the weekends and a job far outweighs the importance of paintball.

Sponsorship most of the US teams have that and good on them for getting it, well done, but if we want it .........sorry, need it then we need to take it back from them.

Play from your hearts, give it your all, let our determination reign supreme!

Oh and one little note to the US, nothing meant by it but I live near an American community and I am fed up of hearing the following "If it weren't for us (the americans) you (the brits) wouldn't be here right now."

That statement is ssoooo loaded. Imagine iamgine a strong capable son saying that to his small withering father. The father can say exactly the same thing back though! Confused America?

Who's language are you speaking? English language, which says a hell of a lot about your lineage. So If it wasn't for the brits the US would be in a worse state then it is at the moment

That was meant only for Casey, you know who you are!

Come on Europe lets reign supreme!

The US players tend to play much more often because it is cheaper and more accessible for them, that will always lead to a better pool of talent.

Bingo. Someone hit it right on the nailhead. Until non-US people get off their absurd ideologies and political infrastructures that think that high prices and high taxes, government economic and societal intervention, and "protective" tariffs, all of which are readily pointed out as stupid by modern economic thought and anyone with a decent education, then you will keep high prices and you will not be able to practice enough to compete.

Yes, higher prices in the UK and Europe are totally attributable to taxes. If you look at prices of gear in the UK, they are the same as if not slightly higher than the price of equipment in US DOLLARS. That's at least a 40% markup on RETAIL. The tax burden is placed on the items upon importation, distribution, store income tax, and store employee individual income tax, with the VAT being put in at least one of those places. Relative pricing being at least comparable elsewhere in items such as food and beer which are domestically produced (as I encountered living over in London), the inflation burden put on paintball is nothing less than extortion which if applied to non-recreational/luxury items such as food or electricity, there would be a national revolt.

Of course you could try to lobby for tax relief and/or exemption from your governments to be internationally competitive, as any nation with any pride in itself whatsoever will pursue at all costs to be competitive in international sports. But then again, dealing with members of national government and expecting rationality is much like seeking relief from a nuclear bomb explosion by holding up an umbrella.

In short, change your government by voting better people into it or you will keep high paintball prices and you will remain inferior. Of that there is no question.

wow.....chill out 'greg', take those pills and take a seat, dont take it to heart.

As for sponsorship, Uk pro teams do get good sponsorship deals, ok not to the extent of US teams but they do. I play for a Uk Pro team and we have numerous sponsors, with more to come this year. Nobody can expect the situation to change until the Uk paintball market grows.
Less practise is not a real excuse anyway, its not a case of how cheap practise is or how often you can do it, increasing your skill means making sure your practising the right things. There are plenty of highly experienced paintball veterans in the Uk who pass on their knowledge, Robbo and Dave Stewart to name a few. The talent pool in the US only surfaces some stars because similarly experienced players over there are passing on their knowledge of the game to the younger generation.

Another thing, the cheating angle is not the right approach to defend euro teams, saying that yank teams cheat more cos their yank is just bull, its just an assumption, US teams do not win games by cheating, many of the people who read this board may not be able to appreciate it, but the standard of individual skills and teamwork required to win pro games reaches far beyond cheating.
Ill say it again, US teams are not better because they cheat, they are just practising, and being taught the right stuff.

Peace:cool: and greg im not responding to you personally, dont go medevil on my ass:cool:
