You're genuine, it does impress
Mario is picking an unnecessary fight if you ask me
oh please - if i was picking a fight he'd know about it.
My point here is this.
Girls are not impressed by paintball. To believe they are is deluding yourself into thinking paintball is an actual sport and that you are an athlete. Your not an athlete, im not an athlete.
In fact nobody is impressed by paintball. It still has the image of being played by wannabe soldiers in the woods dressed up in camo.
If you were single and didn't have a girlfriend i guarantee you, you wouldn't be telling them you play paintball. Did you start playing paintball after you met your gf? did you tell her beforehand that you played? If you did fair enough - you've got a good girl there and dont let her go. Take this from someone who knows.
Telling people you play paintball and explaining it to them is all well and good. However, what do you actually think you accomplish by informing all these people about 'tournament' paintball? Good exposure? A flaming interest? Whilst you may be making a local influence on a nationwide scale it means nothing. Those people you tell about paintball will forget it as quickly as you told them about it.
It would take a concerted effort by a non-industry body (nike etc) to get the message out there that paintball can be and is a sport (i know im contradicting myself) And this wont happen for two or three reasons.
1) paintballers are apathetic ba*tards. I include myself in this because i can't be bothered with trying to make a difference anymore. Nearly every paintballer wishes to be given everything on a plate. Nearly every team wants a deal on paint without results. Nearly every team wants a deal on guns. Here's an idea - how about you put some effort in to your game. Show the companies you can win events - and not on a local scale because in reality they mean **** to the sponsors, but on an international scale.
2) the politics in paintball make real politics look like childs play. Everyone is trying to make money and screw the other guy over. And thats a fact. No-one is in it for the sport as evidenced by pedro in madrid. Perfect example.
3) If we really wanted to push paintball as a sport we could do. All it would take is compromise and the will to do the right thing. All it would need is some organistion between the event organisers to put together a unified league structure. They can easily do this. 3 leagues in the country, north, south, and midlands. They all play their 6 events say on the same weekends and then at the end of the season in august there is a 3 day millenium style event. However imo event organisers are too selfish to do this. I would genuinely like them to surprise me but im fairly sure it wont happen.
Because of these few reasons alone (there are more) no outside industry would touch paintball with a barge pole. And so we will never get paintball recognised as a sport.
MY answer to ET is in bold - i went off on a tangent.
esspaz - dont get in over your head son. i've had more experiences with all levels of bull**** in paintball in this country than you can imagine.
