No, you just ain't getting it: It's not impossible, it's hard.

It's supposed to be hard.

That's why people get up at 4am to train and take on extra jobs...but Paintballers don't want to know about hard cos they are spoilt.

That is the stone cold fact of the matter. I am not missing the point at all.

And throwing lines like that out doesn't add much to this debate. Time isn't money, money is money. Time is time. And if you want it bad enough there are plenty of ways of finding both.

Anything else is just copping out.

I went to school with a couple of guys that swam for the county and were really keen to swim for their country. They got up at 430am and got driven 25miles where they would swim until 8 'o'clock and then go to school. Three times a week they would also swim for two hours after. They didnt even get their trunks for free.

Duffista has a point when he says we are spoilt. How many other 'sports' have people on the bottom rung of the ladder getting things for free?

And in the Red corner............

All that I'm tryin to say is that this sport is expensive for what it is, How are we expected to bring new blood into it when sites are charging somewhere between 6p and 9p a ball?

I tryed to get all the postys from work to play, but when i mentioned the costs they didnt want to know! They said they would rarther go for a night out on the beer and a curry!

Too much money in paintball if you ask me, but where does it all go?

you hit the nail on the head uk baller's are spoilt and all mouth:eek:

I am brining one of the best paintball team's in the world over to do a 2 day clinic and all i have got is how much disscount are you going to give me. In the state's they are charging $250 + to do one of these and the kid's are all over it.

Fair enough we could all do with a little help when it come's to playing but i think we need to raise the bar a lot more for what is givin out takt the kelly's they have benn around and put the work in now it is paying off and they asre not sitting back.they are working much harder.

Is it that expensive though?

I went on a punter day not long ago and it cost £50 for a full day's play. Is that a lot of money for an entire day? It's less than a lot of people spend on a friday night on the lash.

That said, there are two seperate arguments here - one that Paintball is expensive to play as a punter, the other, that established players somehow need sponsorship in order to get better. The first has validity I think, the second does not.

People have ignred the true reason we will never get anywhere. Just look at the reason this thread started. This isnt aimed at either of the people involved but the politics of the UK scene are still there for all to see. Whoever is right the long term implication of the infighting that occurs will stop us from ever competing at the top level.

Into site owner's pockets....... and that's ok as far as it goes but the site owner's field of vision is limited to one thing and one thing only, the money he can make from processing punters.

They don't think any further down the line than this and it is these guys who must shoulder the majority of blame for not broadening their horizons a little to making available walk-on days, encouraging punters toward tourney ball and so on.

This subject has been extensively covered in other threads and all the time the situation remains the same we cannot possibly begin to generate the number of class players I mentioned earlier.

Hermitt, this in-fighting has little to do with why we as Brits ain't cutting it mate, very little indeed.
Our problems lie a lot deeper than that.
