"You certainly dont do anything for UK ball that i can see."

Then you won't mind me removing your free threads promoting an event.[/QUOTE]

Menace is a member Stealers team which is owned by Warren of the SC Village, which in turn DOES do a lot for UK ball.

1, Warren run's a rental site
2, He has spent anout £30,000 on his 'sup-air ball' site for Tournies (which he has had to call off due to no support)
3, He had about 10 players (including 2 girls) down there yesterday who were new to the sport, and he spent all day with them doing drills and how to walk fields etc...
4, He is not giving up on the Tourny players or walk on!!

So he doesn't do that much for UK Ball, does he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Er Twizz, the reason that line is in quote marks is because I was quoting his comments about us.

I am not making any comments about him or Warren's company whatsoever, merely defending PGi. Read my post again.

Then help us to do something. This thread has proved that there are people willing to donate their time to promoting this sport and don't expect anything in return. But you've shot down pretty much every idea as not being on a big enough scale to matter. But if it's a change and it's a positive change, then it's a good thing no matter on what scale it is. So please don't be so hasty to dismiss some of the idea's here.
You say 'shot down', all I have done is explain why they won't work on any practicable level but you seem to be missing the whole point here.
I am not for one second saying player power won't make a difference and good luck to you if you want to embark on such a quest but what's more important is the time scale over which that difference needs to evolve to make a real difference.

We need to scale responses to get a handle on things here otherwise we run the risk of wasting time and resources on pursuits that can't ever hope to succeed in practicable time scales.

I sent Dave YB a report of what I believed to be a valued shift in marketing focus when attacking Europe citing many of the things I have mentioned here, I also had a lengthy discussion with Ceranksi and Piper from PMI also outlining a strategy whereby PMI might expand their business and we (Europeans) would benefit in the tourney side of things.
I had a similar discussion with Ged Green from WDP where I discussed the German phenomenon and contextualized its meaning in terms of a refocused marketing campaign.

I will continue to do the things I do in an effort to expand people's appreciation of what needs to be done and you can do what you wanna do but the only significant changes that will happen is when the big guns roll out and start firing money and resources at this problem.

This has to be a top down approach I'm afraid because it is an extensive, expensive and sophisticated campaign and players just do not have that kinda clout or organization.

You're right, saying "shot down" did make it sound a little strong, apologies.

I am still going to try and sort something out, I've already approached various companies once and all but one said they weren't interested. This time I'm going to design the booklet that I wanted so that it's virtually ready to print and go back to everyone again showing them exactly what I want to do. And I believe that it will work.

And surely the bigger we can make our walkon/scenario/local-tourney market the more likely the big guns are to get involved in the first place?

Certainly no apology is necessary but once again Andy, you seem to be missing another point.
Traditional thinking had the vast majority of tourney ballers being trickle throuhgs from Rental to rec and finally to tourney and so whilst you acknowledge the self evident result of increasing that base demographic and then the tourney ranks swelling as a result, then once again this is dependent upon site owners providing those facilities for that transition.

The big companies are sitting there with product on their shelves waiting to service anybody who wants to make the jump but unless we generate the numbers playing walk ons then those shelves are gonna stay full.
Your whole approach is predicated upon the notion site owners will be complicit and they have already proved they don't wanna know.
And so if you wanna get pro active, you need to put together a package and directly market that to the public.
And as I have said many times before, it has to have tourney ball DVD's as its central theme.

Most sites just won't allow you to do this marketing to their customer base for obvious reasons (well obvious to our site owners anyway) and so our only conduit seems to be what Delta Force do and go straight to the public with the product..but in this case, our product is soooooo much more attractive.

Thats a low blow Duff. I get the point your making, but it's a bit heavy handed isn't it?

IMO - and ban me if you want, but it's that kind of sensitivity that makes all the politics and Ego's in paintball so harmfull. - This is no attack on you Duff, I've been an avid fan of your posts for years - your a cut above in terms of your point of view on most things, but that action in terms of this thread just for mentioning your rival magazine............

'IF' we could charge???

Of course we could if we wanted to. We don't.

And how does it being free to anyone else effect my point? I'll give you a clue - it doesn't.

Jes,

This forom is like living in a communist state, you really cant except anyones opinion can you. You are a bussiness you grow which means you can charge other areas, think of the platinum members you now charge becouse you can NOT becouse you feel like it all of a sudden.

We are talking about what companys can do to grow UK paintball, are you really looking for a pat on the back from the UK Paintball industry becouse you dont yet charge anyone to promote there tourney UK or US on your forums. To be honest mate if thats all you can think of then my point is well proven.

Its your call you have already Banned Warren for life & i dont want you to remove them & we dont want anything for free either so how much do you want to be able to promote the Euro 5 Man on here then Steve?

Or just Ban anything to do with Warren that will go a long way to helping grow UK paintball. I know Warren relies on his bussiness to feed his family & mortgage & I think you playing with that is wrong especially when he is nothing to do with this thread.

Are we looking for a pat on the back? No.

We aren't looking for anything from you, your opinion (positive or negative) of us is unimportant, but if you come on here and deride the very service you are taking advantage of, we will react.

It's very simple.

Warren's banning was purely down to him being abusive to a mod when he was on his final warning; he has held his hands up and taken it, end of story... it has nothing to do with the subject of this thread whatsoever.

Oh, and thanks for explaining how to run our business - we'll take it under advisement.
