alcohol and paintball guns...

... don't mix very well. I feel fear each and every time I see people drinking alcohol and/or drunk while there are gased up markers near by.

I witnessed (and got myself in the middle of it to try to avoid it) a fist fight attempt in Lisbon Millennium between one stoned Ton Ton and one drunk espectator after the Joy vs Dynasty games. What if any of them had a marker on hand? Would we have a couple of eyes less now?

wow guys!

I personally think outer site outer mind if no one is publicly intoxicating drink/drugs leave em alone, now im not condoning Smoking/drinking at all, but to what level are you talking, do you think we should dope test or something (this will never happen short term)?

I think if anyone is blatantly intoxicating anything (drink or smoke)they should be banned, but what ya gonna do if some guy is round the corner minding his own business (away from vendors, players, spectators, etc.) having a biffy are ya gonna hunt him down cut off his nuts & ban him?

So my real question is what would you guys like or recommend the dope smokers of paintball to do(bearing in mind you can get alcohol anywhere at any time)?
I ask you, if someone is allowed 2 beers with their dinner whilst marshalling, does that then mean John Smith who doesn't drink but does smoke can have 2 biffys with their dinner. Or is it no drinks & no biffys full stop or would you suggest 1 or 2 or whatever?, so you see my point, this starts to become a bit complicated! I think if the rules say no drink/drugs full stop , then players, marshalls etc must not go to the pub or be seen with any type of alcholc drink either, but if ya do this ya end up banning everyone Jes the banners will have to ban em selves!!!

I can imagine someone like Wadditis getting lists of supposed smokers & then following them round on some kind of paintball policing witch hunt or something and if ya do that you better go to the pub or whatever & ban any marshall or player drinking as well! (Drink/hangovers also slow down reaction time etc).

QUOTE}One out of 5 judging teams with stoned players? An outrage. Shame on any team that does this!QUOTE}

Steve i will remind you this is the year 2003, wake up buddy!
That is like saying 4 in 5 judging teams drink? Outrageous, ban em all!shame on any team that drinks beer!

Don't be so nieve to think someone who drinks a regular 2 beers per day would do any worse or better than someone who smokes 2 biffys per day,are you saying, someone who smoke's cannabis is not capable of playing or marshalling well?lol

I think most of the rules are in place to stop this happening and would agree anyone standing on a field to marshall/play should not be smoking or drinking anything, the real problem/s come in when the rule/s are not inforced for whatever reason or some rules are simply in need of updating!

I think this thread will have more power in stopping this kind of thing happening in the future than most other things because at least people now know if ya gonna do it ya might get seen and some dirty ba$tard might even go on P8ntballer and expose your arse's....players/teams cannot continue to flounder the rules and get away with it!

Just playing devils advocate and trying not to be to hypocritical at the same time

If you're judging or playing, don't skin up or crack open a beer until tha last ball of tha last game is fired...it ain't rocket science.

Judge or another player sees a player or ref smoking or drinking before end of final game, shop em to tha Ultimate.

Once tha last game's over, go and do what you wanna do.

WTF are you talking about? You saying that I'm some kind of ultra-conservative sheriff on a crusade to catch people doing wrong?

Wake up? Wake up to what? I ain't asleep! (Haven't smoked enough yet.)

If you want to pay good money to play in a tournament and don't care whether or not the judges are intoxicated or not (doesn't matter how) that is your business. Most of us here don't want that and ain't gonna allow it. If you don't care what it looks like to the media and the public for some of the officials to drink alcohol or smoke cannabis openly and brazenly, believe me there are many, many more who do.

I'll go on the record and say that I am in favor of having cannabis treated the same way as alcohol. (I have been known to drink the bong water.) I don't think that either one is better or worse than the other.

And you're right that peeps are gonna discreetly do it anyway. But if it is done publicly or if judges or players are clearly intoxicated they must be dealt with.

I have nothing against players and judges drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis during their time off. Just keep it off the site and don't show up hung over. One way or another I'm paying for good, clear-headed, competent, unbiased reffing and I intend to work towards keeping it that way.

RE: Rancid's remark about me TRYING to get a substance-abuse team banned, I said it that way because I don't have the authority at a Millennium tournament (besides during X Ball games) to ban anyone. But when I say try, I mean TRY.

Like the last three or four posts say: KEEP IT OFF THE FIELD and away from influencing any decision. Simple. (Cough)
