It's the other way over here y'see I'd call it anything at customs before I said "gun" 'cos otherwise the rubber gloves would be on in a flash
:)

Marker at airports, gun to people who know what paintball is and Impy, Cocker, Timmy, etc when saying, "Can you pass me my...":D

Although there is a major increase in the GAT these days... Personally i blame Stongle:rolleyes: :)

I don't drive a fiesta with "cool" neon running lights, I don't pair a lovely adidas track suit with a £90 burberry baseball cap and I certainly don't wear my socks over my "tracky" bottoms. Oh, and I'm far, far to white to rap.

So I don't say gat.

Oh c'mon now. Being from the streets has nothing to do with the colour of your skin, but everything with your social backgrounds. Agreed, in some countries this is almost a synonym for colour, but to set an example, if some of you saw where I was born, it'd make the hair on the back of your necks stand up. Wasn't nice...

But unlike some people that are NOT from the streets, I don't think it's something to glorify. There are plenty of people of all colours that fake the funk. (Ja Rule being one faker that comes to mind...)

Hey, I'm from the streets............

well, a street.

:)

Just funny watching all the local herberts walking round, burberry hats and tracksuits tucked into their socks. "Straight out of Compton", straight out of bloody Roker Avenue more like "can't hang with the homies 'cos the man has me in lockup" i.e "can't play out, I've got homework".
Gun culture and the UK is vaguely sad and embarassing........just like Eminem. (I'm not reinforcing any sort of racial stereotype here.....but hasn't anyone else noticed that the man sounds like a smurf?)

BTW..... y'know what the socks over the tracksuit is about?...... it's a prison thing.... no pockets in the overalls so tucking the tracksuit in gives them somewhere to keep their cash/cigarettes/sharpened toothbrush etc..... so what are the burberry chavas hiding down there? yup.... a packet of mints so Mum doesn't smell the can of special brew he shared with six mates.

Anyway, I still call my marker a marker, 'cos it's a marker........ clues in the name y'see.

This thread is going a wee off topic, and I think it is because some peope seem to miss the point.

It's not about whether you call your gun (because that's what it is, no matter how you look at it) a marker. It's about how PC do we want paintball to be. Do we want to have rules that ban all forms of bad language? Do we want to ban bandanas, because of their gang affiliation (don't laugh, the NFL tried to do this a few years ago)? Do we want to call the deadbox the eliminated players zone? Things like that...
Calling a gun a marker is only a very small part of that. Besides, do you frown upon people calling their gun a gat, because it is wrong, or because it is silly?

I call a marker a gun, I call the EPZ a deadbox, when I shoot someone I get a kill, its not about PC, its about language I feel comfortable with and whats normal to me.
Trying to change paintball into a PC friendly game can/will happen but it will take time and only if people persist making players use their language, then it will come naturally.

whatever, I'll still play the game.
