i think the problem here is that having alot of similar components to a cheap marker devalues the timmys, i have no idea weather this is true or not, but if you want to compare it to cars, its like "jaguar" changing the badge on a ford (deisel) engine, chassi and other running gear and iterior parts, calling it their own car, claiming its all new and wacking a huge premium on it. and thats why jaguar is in trouble. So my point is if this is the case the ethics of the company come into question and leads to a fall in credibility and creates a lack of perceived value. and if this is the case id be miffed too. but like i said i have no idea if its true or not, one simple solution.... if you dont think they're worth it dont buy them. :D

anyway give spyders some credit, kingman must be doing something right, to be so popular and widley coppied. right!?

I can see where your coming from, but lets face it, profit talks, ethics walk in big business. Paintball is no different, think SP and there patent stunts, wheres the ethivs in that???

And another nice car example, BMWs mini, the engines are built in Brazil by a company called Tritec!!!!

Sooooo, from what Ive heard the One kit can make a spyder work exactly like a Timmy. True or not? If so, anybody who owns a timmy has paid 800 bucks just for pretty colors and milling.
How scared is everybody that Kingman will pull al awsuit like SP and sink pretty much every major company? If Sp could shut down AKA and AGD with their flimsy patent, Kingman and their insane piles of money and army of corporate lawyers must have everyone quaking in their booties. Id like to see Spyder go after SP, after all the impulse is just an upgraded version of the Spyder, right?:D

The One kit adds a ram to a Spyder and essentially makes it into a timmy, yes. The One ram isn't entirely air driven though, so it does differ slightly, but for a $1000 difference, it's negligible.

One thing to bear in mind is that most markers work in the same, or similar ways.

Cars also work in the same or very similar ways
Already covered, read the first page. Timmy's, Impulses, Vikings, Bushmasters, Defiants (not surprisingly, another original Bob Long design  ) Angels, all work on a similar platform, but the timmy is the only one so similar to a Spyder as to use almost fully compatible parts and an identical body layout and parts design. For the car comparison, it would be more fair to say this... Was the latest 90k Mercedes prototyped on a Ford Fiesta? Is the body so similar that it can accept every part from a Ford Fiesta with little or no modifcation? Is there so little difference between a Ford Fiesta and a Mercedes that you could easily convert a Ford Fiesta into a Mercedes? Yeah, not quite the same. Any way you try to spin it, the timmy is a really over-glorified Spyder. Why don't we all just come to terms with it and move on. If you own one, you obviously are happy with it, so who cares anyway, right?
