I mean, think of the mileage you could get from that....you could and no doubt would, go round telling each and every soul, YOU were talking to Adam Gardner and he said.......
My god, how important you would feel !!

Attack the issues, unless you have nothing to say about them. Your loyalty is commendable, but for a moment, put your ego bakc in your pants and talk about the issues. If you can't be civil, you can leave while the adults have a conversation.

Back to topic tho. If it'll make you feel better, I can call Adam Gardner. But I can already tell you the end result. No comment. I don't know how law is practiced in the UK, but HERE, you don't talk to anyone about an upcoming case because it may taint your case at best. If I were Adam or Bill Gardner, I'd wait until the official "press release" came out (which the plan is in 2 weeks, form all reports) before answering anything. But, if it'll make you feel better, I'll call them as soon as I make this post.

I do know, however, that SP's legal staff have been calling people who have been vocally anti-SP. One friend of mine in Oregon told me he got a call in which, among other things, they threatened to drag him into the lawsuit ring for defamation of character. (EDITED, SEE OTHER POST)

And Baca, good thinking.

C'mon, Pete--if it's that time again--time to take another run at Tyg ya ought'a start a new thread.:) This one is going along nicely. Marquis of Queensbury rules, please. ;)
1--to be a stickler it's not a conspiracy. That requires some form of collusion between at least two separate parties. This would be more like a naked power play. :D
2--back at ya, big guy. If there's anything here to discover I'm thinkin' you got a much better chance of talkin' to AG than does Tyg. :D Imagine the scoop!

Hmmmm, ok, backin off to keep the peace.......

Adam is bak on Friday, I will call him then if I remember, but as an aside, this action has been going on for years, tyger's inference made it look as though it had just been started to coincide with paintball's potential leap onto the box........I can't even be bothered to rebut that one, if in fact that was what tyger was hinting at

Adam Gardner is "not in the office today". I asked if I could speak to Bill Gardner, and was stonewalled. They didn't ask for my name, nor should it have mattered. If the SP legal staff is intelligent, and I'll assume they are, thye're not gonna say a peep until the suit is underway. 2 weeks is when the "Press Release" will be on the site. The attempt was made, but if they're smart they've "Lawyered Up" and won't speak to anyone.

I also need ot appologise for my bad informaiton. Mike Cassidy (CCI) WAS deposed by a SP attorney, but it was after ICD used his "revolution" electronic semi-auto in thier case. It was a project he undertook in '94 that used electronics to cock a semi-automatic paintgun. As I was told initially, Mike was dragged in. MY appologies for my misinformaiton.

Mike DID have to close shop for a week while he got together all his info from 10 years ago, so it was more than a small pain in his backside. Ya see, I called Mike Cassidy too. He's more a 'neutral party' than a 'named accomplice' in this affair.

If the curiosity is satiated, I'll go take a shower now.

Allegedly...

Rancid, it's hard to prove anything on a web forum. And a lot of things will come across as rumour because I can't reveal my sources or because I am the source from certain meetings. Such is life. And yes some of it is my opinion. All I can do is try to make information I have more widely known. Whether or not you choose to believe it is absolutely your perogative.

Ultimately you can draw opinions from what you know and what you hear (and I don't just mean the net, I mean face to face with real people who are involved also).

You can draw a more informed opinion by knowing the subject matter and talking to the people involved.

I welcome you to do just that and then letting us know your opinion on the situation.

If you think this isn't serious you are coming to a different conclusion to many in the industry who are currently involved.

You can get all the information I talked about. You can speak to most of the people I have. You can draw your own conclusions from the facts and information you gather.

In fact I would love to see PGI knuckle in to try and get the valid information and facts from those involved.

PGI have never pulled punches before so I think they would be a good honest independent view.

Someone (Rancid will love that ;) ) Did get through to Billy today and was told a press release would be forthcoming in two weeks.

I wonder why two weeks? I'm intrigued to whether Robbo will be able to get hold of Adam on Friday and what Adam will say.

I'm hoping Robbo will ask some probing questions about SP's intents with their patents, law suits and future actions.

I'd be very willing to take back what I have said IF I am proven wrong. Heck I wish I do get proven wrong. It would be better for paintball if I am.

SP is the company that sold two versions of the Shocker, one the standard semiauto, the other a full-auto. All the circuit boards were exactly the same, the full-auto ones just had a small microswitch soldered to preexisting contacts. For that switch, the player paid a hundred dollars or more extra.

This is the same company that drilled a hole in a plastic Armson elbow ($3 retail) stuck a length of pneumatics hose in it and called it an "Air Assist", which retailed at $35.

Absolutely true. 100% true...and unfortunately true in lots of spots across the board. 20 cent tupperware sold as $4+ pods. Sets of nuts, screws, and orings costing maybe $2 total sold as $20 parts kits. Air fittings costing maybe 40 cents forked out at $5 and up. Exactly how far should we go with this? It hasn't been called to account by anyone. That such doesn't bother anyone often enough should send strong enough signal to you as to why SP or anyone would even try this in the first place.

If in fact anyone would be magnanimously stupid to attempt an absurd stunt like this. But then again, if we didn't happen to be in this particular industry, such an accusation wouldn't even be credible in the first place. We're not exactly dealing with Wharton grads, Nobel Prize winners, and Augusta National members here... Not the first instance of termite syndrome out there, but this seems perhaps a bit much to believe. Either there's egregious lack of forethought in the action SUPPOSEDLY being taken or in the rumors thereof. I sincerely hope the latter to be the case.

Rancid just for you :D

http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/PTO/search-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PG01&s1=gardner&s2=paintball&OS=gardner+AND+paintball&RS=gardner+AND+paintball

A patent to cover inserts to change the breech end bore of a barrel. Filed Oct 17 2002... Anyone care to guess when OTP were making barrels with sizers in them? Or Bob Long? or (Rancid may know this one) the TS1/AT85 line of guns?

If they did it before Oct 17 2001 and SP know it then I'm confused as to how they can have a claim one which covers all that other prior art? In my dealings with the USPTO that's not allowed...

Actually for that matter when were the Freak barrels available? If it was before Oct 17 2001 then SP shouldn't have filed that patent either... Anyone got a date for the Freak barrel being released?

More SP gun patents that are pending... I'd like your opinion on what these may mean also...

http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/PTO/search-bool.html&r=2&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PG01&s1=gardner&s2=paintball&OS=gardner+AND+paintball&RS=gardner+AND+paintball

Can you sumise the validity of claims

"1. An electronically-operated pneumatic launching device comprising: a gun-shaped body including a trigger; a bolt for loading a projectile into a chamber during a loading operation, wherein said bolt is configured to be opened by the application of pneumatic force; a valve located in the body and configured to selectively supply compressed gas from a compressed gas source to the chamber during a firing operation; and an electrical circuit arranged in the body for initiating the firing operation of the paintball gun in response to actuation of the trigger. "

and

"10. An electrically-controllable pneumatic projectile launching device, comprising: a body comprising a trigger; a bolt configured to be opened by the application of pneumatic force; and an electronic circuit board mounted in the body, wherein the electronic circuit board initiates a launching operation based on trigger actuation. "

and wether or not you think they are broad enough to cover certain sectors of the electronic paintball market. (The difference to the last patent being that then the electronics were housed in the grip or it was just a grip frame)

Also another pending patent for you to peruse.

Ah Another one for Rancid,

I'd like to show you the patent for the generic semi auto we all know and love. Started off with the PMI 3, developed through the Promaster and F1 Illustrator to become what we all know and love as the Spyder... when do you think that was patented?

A cookie for you if you guessed Mar 4 2002...

Here it is http://www.haveblue.org/tech/patents/US006553983.pdf

That's over 10 years since the concept was in use. In reality in the USA the (stupid) system allows you a year to patent after making the invention known. Not ten...

Why am I posting this? To show how easy it is to hood wink the USPTO and get grant of a patent on something that was already public domain knowledge and which you didn't actually invent.

Or maybe the powerfeed? Invented by Tom Kaye patented 10 years later by someone else...

or the barrel condomn... in use as sports socks or similar from the '80's but patent in the last few years by Larry Cossio!

There are a miriad of such ludicrous patents.

Next I'll show you one of my favourite USPTO patents it's for a perpetual energy machine

Now maybe I should try and sell the London Tower to the USPTO...
