The NPPL Fox situation is not quite the same as the Uk though. There are something like 12 million recball players in the USA who play often. They would have watched i would guess.

On top of that, the USA has much more of an Extreme sports culture base than the Uk, that would mean the Fox show would have appealed to many mre people than potentially will watch in the Uk

Exactly what I was about to say :)

I've shown the NPPL Fox programmes to a few people who have never played paintball before, and their repsonse was far from exciting.

Watching bunkers and people occasionally getting shot isn't exciting TV.

30 Minutes of Run-Throughs / Face-Dives / Overkill / Fights is what is going to attract people on the outside, but only for a limited time.

Im interested to see how x-ball will favour though.

Col (Red Merkin) had a superb idea when i was talking to him the other night.

take paintball indoors, or house it in a big dome. This would generate the same kind of atmosphere at say an ice hockey match. Have high netting all the way to the ceiling to protect the crowd.

make sure that all the paintball are white, and ban white from players kit and clothing.

Then light the field in such a way that you have black light surrounding the field, amongst the normal lighting. This would make the paintball glow in the light as they are fired out of the guns, giving the crowd something to focus on, as they can see the paint fly. Paintball would be far more interesting to watch of you could see the streams of paint crossing the field.

Playing Xball like this would be awesome to watch

i think u kinda right but not really on the point that im talking about.

i think that if a tournament is put on, like the pa it will pull teams, as the pa did. even without sky its an exciting prospect.

BUT.....and here is my point/question/whatever.........

When a team went to a company saying "give us stuff" and the company sed "why??" the fact that ppl could say that the company would/could get sky tv coverage WILL have been a big factor for the company. Forget the players and teams for a moment but what about the out of paintball ppl who are backing the teams????

say there is no sky tv thing in the end, what happens then next year when teams go back to companies who though they would get their name or logo on national tv????

:(
I completly agree. No question.

I am a manager of one of the teams and one of my selling points is Sky.

So if its not shown It will have been an even tougher struggle to keep people.

However so far the PA have done everything they have said and whether you personally like how it was done,

(All games start at the same time, Behind baracade starts etc)

They have done what they said.

They IMO would not come out and say we will have something on Sky Sports unless they were sure something was going to happen.

So Sam yes I agree it is 3rd event in and that may not be quite what people thought but even if it is a 30 minute feature leading up to next years event ,

However they do it I belive something will happen. It may not be what we expected and we may not even like it. But some form of the PA series will be on TV.

The Announcement

Again I agree with this.

However I find watching through a net a pain.

If you have it indoors like Ice hockey why not have similar reinforced perspecse to watch it through. With like you have on some cars for rain a motion seser squeege to clean.

Some rubber bar in soapy water when a ball hits it moves up and down to clear the mess. Set the seats at a level just higher than where the balls are normally hitting and it would be ideal.

Nowhere in that thread does it say that they will only be filming from the 3rd event though. Will some of the teams still have their sponsors in two months time when the 3rd event rolls in?

right this is what i know sam and chris!!!

after speaking to russel the rulebook most weekend what i will say is sky where not at the first one because of whatever teething problems there may or may not have been they are coming down to the second one to see how they can film it and as far as i know make a decision from there.

anyway lads on the negativity about sponsorship if people had read the thread about sky properly in the first place they wouldn't have used it as a bargaining tool when applying for sponsorship i know this may turn out bad for those teams and the sport even but what u gotta say it is not hatts and gillie's fault if sky were to pull out or only slightly televise it.

this is just my views and not those of my team sponsors or anyone to do with the p.a. league ok!!!

peace out

with guns firing at 15bps second it is too impractical, the wipers would need to be as high as the perspex for bounces off barricades. Developing a fine thread but strong net should be easy
