'in ya face baby!'
yeah it was 3 feet from the tape and the base which was on rails could be seen by the back player and the guy at the other end of the snake, so both could see exactly where the player was!

also the shot they got of that move would not be good viewing anyway, if they had held back and waited they would have been able to see the guy shoot out at least three of the opposition across the field, now that would have been good to watch!!

The thing that amazed me was that it wasn't just the boom camera that made it a bit obvious that the snake was now hot, but the two guys with hand held cams that ran hell for leather to pinpoint film this secret move:confused:

Pointing a camera that close is just the same as pointing with your fingers...............did they not have zoom or was that an optional extra when purchased:rolleyes:

Well it's difficult really because if I'd have been filming I'd have probably done the same thing. Paintball videos/DVDs are usually dull as dishwater and part of the reason is because the footage is always shot from way off at the sides (even beind netting in some instances) and never gives any feeling of intensity. Judging by the description given here, I'm sure that shot will look great on the DVD! :D

It's not always as easy as it seems to just stay further away and zoom in. Distance from object effects all sorts of things such as Depth Of Field etc Sometimes you can only get the great shots by getting right in there.

However, I can understand the frustration for the poor sod in the snake too.

Trouble is, paintball is the only sport I can think of where the crowd/players can't shout to their teammates what to do, where opponents are coming from etc so that reduces crowd participation anyway...

It's a tough thing to judge and decide what will be best for the sport. At the least though, if teams are going to be filmed in this manner (up close and personal which does create the best footage) they should be at least warned in advance, in detail, about where the cameras can go etc. That is always my procedure when filming things of this nature anyhow...

Nick,

Are you sure about that?

Most of the Powerball lot were in the stand very near to the where the VIP's were (thats another thread me thinks). The poon who owns Traumahead (or so he said he did) was stood next to us trying to justify the camara shot. Also bear in mind they were all wearing Trauma tops anyway.

Cheers
