It is much more likely that this particular page was overlooked for entirely honest reasons (like the person updating the site wasn't someone who gives a crap about paintball triggers and gravity vs. force feed) than for it to be "some big conspiracy". Sure, the conspiracy is more fun, but like X-Ball predictions, not very informative or productive.

Anyway, I would have done this already myself except that I'm at work, but if you're really that worried about it call up Lane and ask. His number isn't exactly a secret. Then let us all know what the real answer is. I'm betting it'll be something along the lines of "We didn't realize that was still up and you can just ignore it" followed by a post on smacktalk/warpig and the other usual NPPL/PSP info outlets saying it's old info.

You know, the more I look at this the more I think you might be right.

I still think they ought to be more careful for all the reasons I named. I looked at the WC site again and everything else is fresh and updated, including the Disney shiznit. They probably just overlooked it.

Or could be a conspiracy:rolleyes: and they overlooked it intentionally, as Baca suggests.

I don't want to call Lane right now. I know how busy he must be right now with all the arrangements.

LANE, if you're reading this right now, write a quick line!

PS. I started this after someone brought up the confusion on Pbnation.com. At the same time I started this here I sent an e-mail to Bill Cookston. Haven't heard anything yet.

Intentional, yes, conspiracy, no. The PSP decided in the not too distant past it was imperative to demonstrate to assorted potential interfering do-gooders that we--the community of pballers or at least those responsible for pballers--were being proactive in responding to concerns about marker function. At the same time in the "real" world of trying to run a very large event in a limited amount of time with a mish-mash of semi-literate refs it isn't really practical to try to consistently enforce marker function rules. (For semi-literate read ill-informed and harried ) :)

Heh...

I'm sure PSP has read the thread by now. That doesn't mean they've decided what they're going to do about it, or if they have, decided how to tell everyone what they're going to do about it. Organizations like PSP don't just immediately reply to web board posts.

As for the rest, I ask you to please decide if 1) You believe what is written on the World Cup site, and they are MODIFICATIONS to the NPPL rules for World Cup only or 2) You believe that the same rules apply all season.

Those are mutually exclusive. Please pick one.

You need to read something, then stop and think "Does this make any SENSE?" This rule doesn't make any sense, because I can't honestly see anyone looking at this rule or writing this rule in the past 12 months with the intention of having it apply at this world cup.
I lost this argument a while back, too legalistic for my feeble mind, but I did see this and think of all the hoo ha over the "no look" rule at Millenium Events.

I seem to remember a lot of people saying it was stupid and made no sense, but it existed and was enforced.

As in a lot of things, just because it don't make sense doesn't mean it isn't true.

Amazing what a little reasoning will do for the otherwise uninformed.

Then again, the college X-Ball information is all wrong, so who knows. (Looks like the college event got confused with the "trial" event that was originally scheduled for Wednesday at the Disney location.)

Great Chris,

That' all we wanted in the first place! Just clarity. Because I am sincerely looking at new kit and I need to know the rules. I was more concerned with the gravity-feed thing.

I hope I didn't offend anyone. Not my intention.

No, our distinguished moderator didn't put his foot in his mouth. He seems to be very much in the know. According to a reliable rumor, the subject of this post wasn't JUST a mistake. Baca was right, Chris was right, and I think I was right. Can't say more.

Now it is clear. All is well. Just need to re-write those danged rules!
