Rule changes at World Cup

well it depends, you will propably get 1-2balls if you turn it upside down (if you have a full halo you will get even more). With a warp feed you will get quite many.

I really don't care too much about the loader issue myself. But allowing burst etc modes to the field is a bad idea. Soon we will play with full autos this way.

If we're talking about burst modes or any other high ROF then more questions need to be asked. How many direct hits can a lens take before they start cracking? I would hate to see ROF, however it's obtained, regulated. But we need a scientific answer to that question since some goggle manufacturers warn that lenses need to be changed after ONE direct hit!

World Cup Rules Modifications
These rules are in addition to the NPPL Rules at World Cup:
A semi automatic paintball marker is one in which one paintball is ejected during each firing cycle. Each such firing cycle must include an intentional pull by the finger of the player by an exertion of force and a release of force on the trigger by the player's finger. The trigger cycle includes both the pull to activate and release to reset actions. All such semi automatic paintball markers are permitted to be used at the World Cup.
Any marker that in any way enhances the number of paintballs ejected during a firing cycle, must be limited to ejecting no more than 8.75 paintballs per second. Such markers that are not full autos will be permitted for use at the World Cup. Full Autos are not permitted.
Goggles:
Goggles independently tested meeting ASTM Standards are the only ones permitted for use at the World Cup. No modifications to the Goggle, the mask system or the ear protection will be permitted, except add-ons such as Goggle Flauge, fans, anti-fog inserts and the like.

The way I read the above (edited a little) is that Turbo is now allowed again as long as it is capped at 8.75 (this was one of the restrictions placed upon Turbo at the last time of allowing the mode...mmm not a good thing as we were all prepared for what is and isn't allowed. The definition of semi though is clear cut. Pull and release is the cycle that defines semi, not pull it fires release it fires so no huge change there.

The googles previously the soft ear protection on JT's was allowed because it was a factory made part even though it was added to the goggles as a personal preference by the player so this I would guess has been included in the rule modification to stop any confusion at the event (last year I tried to stop a player with the said ear protection but was over ruled as it was made by the company who made the goggles even though the goggles didn't leave the factory with the ear protection as it was being used by the player  )

I think someone who is real good at simple and clear writing needs to totally rewrite the NPPL and Millennium rules. Perhaps someone who writes children's books.

Some of these matters become clearer in context, such as in the quoted post, but are still unclear for the vast majority of us "unwashed masses". We need clarity and for reason to dominate. Maybe the rules should give clear, living examples of what is included and not. E.g. Warpfeed is allowed and Halo is not.

It wouldn't surprise me though to find that the published rule change is infact a typo regarding enhanced fireing modes as it is exactly the same words as were used before when turbo was allowed ;) Wouldn't be the first time for any set of rules to be misquoted, afterall a human has to re type it all

I suppose I'll find out next week.

This is slightly off-topic but the definition of semi is clear to me, but didn't seem clear to Bill Cookston several years ago.

I developed a rocker-type trigger that I put on an LCD Angel that has a pivot point in the center rather than at the top and has two micro-switches, one under each finger. I later heard that someone thought of the same thing about 6 years ago and was told by Bill Cookston that NPPL wouldn't allow it.

The trigger design I tried is no-questions one-pull, one-shot. No trigger bounce. It is very light and I could instantly get 14 bps by light tapping with both fingers after practicing and getting used to it. I could fan it up to 18 bps very easily. No scoop since people already shoot that fast. Just easy to get to those speeds.

I would go commercial with it if I wasn't afraid of the wrong intepretation of these rules.

Whuts going on with this 8.75 bps limitation thing? The MROF setting on the angel changes the number of microseconds allowed between each pull, therefore assisting ROF at higher MROF settings. Are teams gonna have to play with MROF limited to 8bps?

In which case I might as well have an old Automag!

Great, I won't have to pay so much for my kit to get back into the game!

This whole 8.75 thing seems a tad silly to me. Most people can shoot faster than that "conventionaly". Why allow something that does more than one ball per pull but only at a relatively slow speed anyway? If it's to stop people shifting massive amounts of paint then just go for one pull - one shot. Doh!

as far as I can tell, and I am no expert but NO there is no MROF for markers that are truly semi, ie 1 pull and release = 1 ball, mentioned in these rules.
