RIP Rushers???? Team England for good...

Who owns it? Me. Us Yanks own everything in Britain - heck, Dubya even owns your prime minister.

On another note, I'm sure Robo will ask for an' get a lot of input from Ledz and Mark T, but I think some of y'all are understimating tha man himself. He has won more big events than any other Euro, has written over 300 articles on pball, has tha respect of the aforementioned two captains...hell, didn't Sergei Leontiev say 'We learned everything we know about pball from reading Pete Robinson's articles in PGI'?

Like him or loathe him, don't underestimate his knowledge of tha game and his plans and strategies for tha new team...

Did he win them as player, or as captain and coach? He won a lot of events back in the UK hayday as captain, but I think most of the stuff he won elsewhere was as a player, not as a captain of the team or as coach. (not that I don't doubt he had a lot of influence). He really was quite a great player back in the Nam days. Doesn't mean he will be a great coach in the modern game. I'd put more weight on Mark Toye to lead this new team.

Also paintball has changed a lot in the few years since Robbo was competing at the top and winning. Previously his own team Backlash (what will happen to them BTW?) hasn't been able to live up to what he preaches in his articles. What will the difference be here? I'm guessing a boatload of sponsorship to pull in the best players. But then Backlash was quite heavily sponsored...

Well maybe 30 articles that have been reworded 10 times each ;) (it's a joke!)

Maybe the first X-ball event is not something to go by, but Pete held his hands up and admitted that mistakes he made held back the results of the team. Maybe he will learn from that, maybe not.

If we look to other sports fans, are always very critical of managers/coaches etc. I hope Robbo can deal with the public a bit better in the future than he has done in the past.

Considering how well the German team did out there, I'd bet a Rushers squad on their own would have been able to achieve quite a result.

Didn't Robbo write most of those 300 articles on the Russian Legion? ;) :D

I'm hoping some of what Sergei has done and achieved will rub off on Robbo.

Is Beaker still going to be involved in this new team?

I had to say it sometime.....

Well, here's what I know.

At Pittsburgh I can tell you there was talk of keeping the team together, however, it was only AFTER the guys had actually played together, they all realised quite what a special thing these players have, and great players feed off other great players. They all got along really well, however much Bowen tried to gte rise's out of people :).

It was not a done deal, all the guys went back to their respective teams and agreed they would play out the season and honour their commitments. They said that they would think about things just after Campaign. As for sponsors I'm afraid you're off GloryKid :) it was always the intention to give "first refusal" to all the Xball sponsors (Draxxus, DYE, WDP) and then the guys decide if they want to take them up. Smart Parts and JT probably wont be involved, but nothing is signed AFAIK.

Now some of you might think that this was all hatched way back when and Xball was just a facade, well, I can honestly say that until Pittsburgh, nothing was decided.

Now, as for me (if you care!), while I was invovled in Xball, and many thanks for Robbo et al for their support of me in that, I wont be continuing on with this phase of the team for 2 reasons.

Firstly, I'm not good enough, simple as that. These guys are great players and I would dearly love to walk onto a field with them, but I can't honestly say there is one player I think I should take the spot of. with time and training with them then i'd hope to improve to be a contender, but there isn't that luxury. Also, as the team (at least in the short term) will pretty much be playing 7 man, you can't afford to carry extra organisers/coaches/spares etc and there is already 9 players, + Ledz, + Robbo. There is no spot for me on the team and I completly accept that.

Secondly, I've been spoilt by seeing a team that great. Watching them was one of the proudest moments ever to think I had some hand in gettting these guys together. I said to Junior in the states that if I can't be a part of something that special for the reasons above, then I'll give up as I really can't get motivated to play at a lower level for another 12-18 months.

So that is why I have quit paintball, sold most of my gear and am taking this oppurtunity to realise a long held goal and go travelling for a few years starting in the new year.

I wish these guys the very very best of luck, they are a superb bunch of guys and deserve all the support they can get. I for one will be looking out for them whenever I can glimpse a PGI or on the 'net :)

For once though I also completely agree with Rancid , that please don't build them up too quickly to get knocked down, I bet by the middle of next year they'll be contenders at every event - but if they take a few more months then what the hell.

Sorry for the length, but I wanted to get things straight.

Well maybe 30 articles that have been reworded 10 times each (it's a joke!)

Bloody hell Man - have you got Rancid's phone bugged?

As for Robo, one thing he is as a good thinker and analyst and now he's stepped back from playing I think that will come to tha fore...basically, as far as he's concerned he has the best pool of raw talent he could have, and he wants to mould, guide and lead them (not on-field) to glory - and he is aware that all eyes will be on him cos he's got a squad full of players who should, over time, perform well, and if they don't it's down to one of two things: either his tactics/training/motivation/management ain't up to scratch, or tha players he has selcted ain't as good as he and everyone else thinks they are.

And I think we all know that tha players ARE as good as Robo sez they are, so tha onus is on him...

As for sponsors, well I'll tell you who definitely IS sponsorsing tha team, and that's PGI.

Who will lead the team.

Now there seems to be various people talking about who will lead this new super team be it robbo in the wings or Mark T on the field....
Now i've trained with Mark before and the one thing i can tell you is that Mark is the smartest person on the circuit as well as the coolest (in terms of temprement that is.)
(Damn i hate saying this!!:D )
I've yet to meet another person who can identify blind shots, snap shoot and pocess the ability to play both sides of the field at the same time in his mind.
Just picking on one instance of Marks coaching ability would be the way in which Bowen has performed this year. He left our team to join the rushers full of potential.... Inside of 6 months and Mark had drawn that out of him and got him playing some seriously hardcore ball!
Now i don't know Robbo apart from to look at. But he's got a big time rep plus he's won big time in his past
Combined these two paintballing minds should bring U.K paintball back to the highest levels.

Good luck to all involved!

Perhaps it is (part of) the public that needs to learn how to deal with him better. Then again, is that necessary? Louis van Gaal is one of the best soccer coaches at the moment, but the man is a complete prat, but he gets the job done, that's all that counts. If this team wins, people will all be riding the Robbo train, if they lose, everybody will tell you he's a jerk....

Oh what a sad and sorry world

I love to put people down

You are mostly all barking mad on some sort of hystria trip

we will not be competing at any level similar to the US in X ball for 15 years never mind 15 months
I really have a lot of time and respect for the Rushers and what they have achieved in there respective division over the last few years, most are friends and I have played with and against them many times
As with Ledz and Jack, great in a number of respects

But
Americans are consistent, consitantly what you may say and the answer is consistantly better
Play PRO for 3 years around the world then go play for X ball coz you will not reach that high from any other league without a base

Sorry but its the truth, stop kidding yourselves

If you have played PRO and if you have played in the States a few times answer this post if not dont F***ing bother coz you dont know ****

some more

with the current team and infrastructure will not be able to compete, get in a different bloody coach that has won something as a coach in modern day paintball and we might be on the right track from the start

Experience counts for a lot on the feild as well as off of it and from what I have understood we do not have any of the experience on the field at this level

as a thought!!
Let the paintball community who are signed up for the UKPSF vote on who should be the team coach from a list of people who decide they wish to stand for the job
Be democtratic from the start and see where you end up,

I am not bothered whether people share my opinion or not as its only my opinion but with Peter Robinson heading this team it will never win a single thing in America or Europe like a millenium and I would eat a carrot if they did and I do not like carrots but at least I would not back down from the offer
Peter is very good at one thing for paintball and that is sponsorship and the press thats it people forget the playing ability and coach, watch the results and Ill keep reading the post s becaus in a few years you will get fed up with it

I STILL WISH THE NEW TEAM EVERY BIT OF STRENGTH AND LUCK I COULD EVER WISH AS I AM PATRIOTIC AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD PEOPLE AND DESERVE ALL THEY WOULD WISH FOR
