I agree with skeet (shocking I know skeet 
) but I would like to add that on forums it is sometimes hard to show people the tone of your voice in a piece of writing. We must all be aware of that.
If say I went up to a mate of mine and said hey you faggot, he would not be offended, he would probably call me a pillow biter or something similar lol! But if I were to call someone the same thing on the forum, it probably would be taken as offensive, and as such a similar thread would be created. We must be mindful of this my young padawans.

The word Negro is Spanish for BLACK. The Spanish language comes from Latin, which has its origins in Classical Greek. The word Negro in Greek, is derived from the root word 'necro', meaning dead. The act of ancestral worship known as necromancy or communication with the dead, was the practice of the Egyptians in order of honoring the lives of ancestors Who came before. European (White) people manufactured the word Negro during the slave trade. In addition, the term Negro on the other hand is introduced to obscure the Africaness of the classical Pharaonic civilizations. These Eurocentric determinations alienate and distort the historical achievements of African people. Numerous scholars have fallen into the intellectual trap when writing about African people by referring to them as Negroes or semi-negroes. This is a weak attempt at separating Africans of today (Africans worldwide), with Africans of yesterday (Egyptian-Africans and other great African civilizations).
When the word nigger was devised, the meaning it implied was of a debased, ignorant, or very low person. Then, African-Americans dropped the 'ER' and added an 'A' thus forming a new word NIGGA. This word has been accepted and approved because 'the word now has a new meaning, we mean it a different way' is the obnoxious excuse. This is the same word that was used against our ancestors who shed blood for...now being accepted and used (daily) by the same people it was used against! The term is meaningless in reality but has become a useful word for those who help perpetuate the negative stereotypes of Africans worldwide

So, are there many prominent black players then? and are we likely to attract many with this thread? don't think so.
If something you say offends people you don't know purely on the grounds of colour....... then it's racist. I'm not bothered about the origins of a word....... it's the intent. When I say black, I mean the colour it's an adjective nothing more , I know people that can make it into an insult. Ali G's content was considered racist at first........ but he's not, people missed the point and made a racist assumption themselves...... he's wearing fubu and he's a gangsta...... therefore, he's pretending to be black.
And what the hell are all of us white boys doing discussing this anyway? that's the problem...... middle aged white men deciding what's racist and just fuelling the biggots with "political correctness gone mad".

Just to point out the the Robertson's Golly was never banned.
Some prat in some liberal borough of the capital tried to get it banned as they deemed it offensive to the black community. Yet no member of said community had complained. In fact many members of said community collected the golly because finding any memorabilia of ethic colouring is very rare and this is still true today. I used to have the full set of footballers but as a kid i had them playing football. Full set is worth a tidy sum now ( D'oh)
