I don't want to dwell on it, and I'm by no means an expert, but doesn't the money transfer with regards televising sporting events usually work the other way round? Seems odd to me that all this talk of 'outside-industry' sponsorship is contradicted by paying someone to film the event?

No beef- just curious :)

Peace ;)

Why not think of it like this:
If you stop 100 people at random in a shopping centre (Meadow hall or the Metro Centre) and asked them if Tournament Paintball should be on TV, how many would say 'Paintball' or 'Tournament Paintball'. So i personally think that its not a case of it not wanted on TV but people dont no its there so cant want it on TV.
You get what im saying??

What advantage does paintball on the idiot box give to any of us players? "It would be cool" is NOT an answer.

I'm serious, I've NEVER gotten a working answer to this. It always devolves into "Tyger's raggin' on the tourney guys" but I'm talking paintball in general.

What will *I* see, as a player, if paintball is on TV? Give me a reason to back this?

Keep in mind, Paintball has been on ESPN, FSN, OLN and DOZENS of "reality" shows. So far, I don't see corporate sponsors stepping up. I don't see the "hall of fame" sprouting up. I don't see international rules that we ALL agree upon popping up. I don't see any of the promises made over the years kept.

What I see is steady growth that hasn't needed TV to get paintball where it is, and I see a game that's doing well int eh recreational fields. So what's to be gained by forcing paintball onto a market that doens't want to see it?

and you know they don't want to see it? first off if its on tv people will see it, then make their minds up weather they like it or not. They might even try it.... bringing more paintballers into the fold, the more paintballers there are the more business rec sites and maybe eventually tournaments will get. If corporate sponsors dont work out who cares aslong as the steady increase of people joining the sport is maintained then the sport will start to thrive and it will go from there.

What a lot of y'all need to get your heads around, is no matter how great it is to play any incarnation of Paintball, doesn't mean it's going to look that good on TV to others or the uninitiated.

Compare Paintball to a Chicken Madras. Sure is tasty, produces an artificial high and is bloody addictive, but not exactly the most appealing dish to look at.

Now take that plate of Chicken Madras and put it on TV. That taste and high (what we so enjoy), is an intangible, so it could just look like a lump of mush. And no one would eat a Madras on looks alone.

Now you can make a Madras look and taste good, but that takes time, skill and flair. You need to break down each of it's ingredients to understand how they all react together to bring out the best. Kinda similar to Paintball really, I mean the best example of reductionist theory in practice was Russian Legion at Paris. I mean I was playing Paintball, don't know what they were playing but it looked frikkin awesome. If anyone deserves to be on TV it's these guys. When you got to TV wouldn't you want the uninitiated to see the best looking Madras, served up with the finest ingredients and presentation, or just a plate of chicken in sauce?

Now all this talk of curry is making my mouth water.
