Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but Smart as a Carrot?

If I'm trying to persuade a TV exec, or Pepsi, or even just some 14 year old skater, that Paintball is cool, then having a team like S****horpe Smart as a Carrot (or whatever) ain't exactly gonna further my case...

mate that name has been in PB longer than most of the other teams its like a heritage :) it was Cramlington not s****horp, and alot of the current top players have origionated from this team a name does not make the game how and where the game is played does ! as for 14 yr old skater kid you are sterio typing the sport there are more other types of kids too other than skaters ! the name dunt have to be war like, or in most cases i have seen named after animals or even an old computer game, they are just names "and no iam not biting " lol doe i get any back up from anyone about this (doubtful lmao)

I'm pretty damn sure Teej aint suggesting the name should be war like more 'sport' orientated hence...

As an aside, and not picking on anyone, but IMO if you're gonna make teams have city names in an attempt to make pball seem more like a real sport, surely it also makes sense to make tha non-city part of the name kinda sporty as well.
where on earth did you get 'war like' from????

Mind you it worked for Accrington Stanley, Crammlington could be in the new milk ad's........ ;) :D :D :D

Hummmm

I think what Richie was trying to say was the Smart as a Carrot name has been in paintball for a long time producing such players as Stig and Dunny and a one time were kinda high up in the A division and also did quite well in the world championships in Talouse until half our team got injured in a car crash  our name was goodenough for the last 19years in this sport and it aint gonna change. I do understand what you are trying to say and i know you were not directly picking on us but i think there are alot bigger issues in paintball i.e.

- stopping stupid kids shooting joe public in the streets from their cars, as this really portrays paintball in a goodlight dont it?

Do you not think this may be the cause of resentment against paintball in this country and the reason why big companies are unwilling to involve themselves rather than a name.

I know you didnt intend to offend TJ but we are quite proud of our name mate so you can understand why you got these responses, suggest you pick another name next time.

Cheers mate .......... Glen

MY TURN.....

Whats wrong with Smart As A Carrot??? Most people know us as S.A.A.C.- we added Cramlington for the P.A.
We were asked to leave the P.A. because we could not field a team for one event, fair enough, harsh if you ask me, but thats life!

I do not know how you value loylty and friendship, but thats what SAAC is about, we all love the sport and value our team identity. Players move on, but the name stays the same.

We do not play this sport for money, status or to prove anything. We play for FUN.

You can pick any sport, and it will have "funny" sounding team names, so what??

You want us to change just because YOU think it does not sound cool, hip, trendy or any other word you like! Well SOD YOU.

We like our name, if you dont, come and tell me, in person. We can discuss it over a few pints.

Getting back to the subject. I think it would be great to follow the P.A. lead, but you need a Northern, Midland and Southern series. One event a month in each area, all ran on the same weekend, with a series final, bringing the best from each area.

To make it work, you need all the event organisers to get together and promote it....TOGETHER.

I think maybe TJ was simply illustrating a point, no need to throw your toys out the pram. Tapping into the yoof market is essential these days if you want the sport to grow, but you are right you don't have to appeal to just sk8r kidz. The easiest way to get the wrong I mean young generation to play is to have team names like:

Canvey Stone Island
Bristol Burberry
Chatham Chav's

etc

They can all meet in the middle, have a fight and gob on each other.
