With all the respect in the world to Manike and his really good ideas about stopping gun cheating, it is obvious he's going to fight slowing down hoppers because he's the man responsible for them speeding up in the first place.

He says capping ROF at the hopper is ludicrous but it is not. True, it is still a halfway solution but it would the quickest and simplest to at least stop the ROF at around 15 or below.

Think about it: if the next tournaments banned Viewloader Evolutions, Halo Bs and Warpfeeds then we wouldn't have more than around 15 BPS (if I'm correctly informed).

True full auto would be caught at the pre-game chrono and the in-game inspections would still go on to try and catch those that violate the one-pull-one-shot rule.

We would still continue to do random in-game chronographing. And we will start video recording suspicious shooting.

If the player with the cheating guns were forced to use "old" hopper technology I suspect their guns would turn into blenders the second their modes started kicking in.

I can feel the flames comin'.

Lets go back to pumps job sorted....

Seems as ludicrus as limiting hopper technology, we seem to be confusing the issues though is high rof the problem or cheater boards? As I understood it heater boards were the problem, what ever you set a 'cap' at there will be cheats going on to reach that cap be it 9, 10 12 or 16 bps, no blenders as the majority have eyes....

if you cap the ROF in any way or form then it only gives the cheats something else to cheat doesnt it?

ie if you cap the ROF at 15 bps then surly the cheats will have some kinda mod eventually that will boost this and then we are back where we started.

short of having an onboard telemetry system that is reading EVERY trigger pull and recording the number of balls fired as well as the velocity of each shot, its gonna be hard to police some of the designer cheats out there.

although im not in favour of FA, TJ does have a point......it would remove SOME of the cheats that people are currently using on markers....after all its dead easy to make a marker FA at the moment, 30 mins with a soldering iron and a little know how and you can install any number of method of activating a full auto mode to many of the current popular markers.
what FA wouldnt stop however is the 'high tech' designer cheats such as ramping programmes in the software.

my personal opinion no to FA ......BUT it will happen eventually.

idea: not sure on the technology but how small can a chrono be made?????? how about at the start of a game, as a team chronos, their markers are also fitted with an onboard gadget....on the sight rail (for example) this gadget contains a small chrono as well as some form of data storage devuce......at the end of the game they are removed and fitted into a docking station and read by a computer giving the referees a breakdown of the velocity of all 14 markers on field in one go, this would highlight high shots and pick up ramping markers would it not? cant be that expencive to build eather (relitivly) the onboard monitors would be the property of the organisers and wouldnt ever leave the field so wouldnt be open to tampering.

my 2p :)

I agree with so much you're saying here, Paul, but I still wonder if the hopper limit isn't the best interim solution to at least add safety while we're looking for a solution.

Your absolutely right, this has been about cheater boards not primarily ROF. But it is about ROF, FPS, faster hoppers, a massive bloom-up of know-how regarding electronics, perfected feeding systems, paintballs right on the cutting edge of breakability and shooting stability, lots of money to be made by hackers and custom houses, better-than-ever trained fingers, time-constraints in a tournament, behavior modification, guns shooting after you've released the trigger, everybody feeling the necessity to be on the edge regarding everything rules-wise (Hey dude, it's not cheatin' man if everybody's doin' it and gettin' away wid it! It's jus' playin' tha real rules, dawg!") and the goal to make all this a smooth-flowing, beer-selling Media Event.

Going back to pumps does seem more extreme to me than my suggestion about the hoppers. Besides, I have developed a pump gun that is as fast as the cheaters and still is a pump.

Meanwhile, Manike's suggestions are good about catching most of the cheaters and will be implemented as much as possible across the board at Camp Masters. Players who choose to play with a gun that violates the gun rules play a high risk game. Just like a worn out State Trooper with a radar gun in his hand, "We can't catch 'em all but we catch some of 'em. And they sure as hell slow down when they see us."

Like Baca said, games are just getting mo and mo exciting - and concurently, tha guns are getting faster and faster. To all intents and purposes, those cats are going FA.
Personally if I had to choose I'd rather have some trigger interaction rather then just holding the trigger.....

arent they pritty much the same thing????
i can set any marker up to go full auto on the bounce.....in the same light i can pick up pritty much any electro marker and make it bounce one way or another.....i think with bouncy triggers a certain level of common sence has to be used when policing them. ie is the marker very easy to bounce or does it require you to hold the trigger on a very small hard to hold point etc.

if players are setting their triggers to bounce like a mofo and it is being allowed then you may as well be playing FA
